Chapter 66
Like a steady anchor, Eddie’s words immediately calmed Nydia’s emotions, which had been spiraling out of control like a tsunami.
“Mr. Houle, they’re all insulting me,” Nydia said
Wayne was stunned. Nydia’s expression was serious, but her tone carried the unmistakable vibe of a wife venting to her husband.
Even Buck and Austin were left wide–eyed, wondering if Nydia and Eddie were really that close. Buck’s expression shifted from shock to something more complicated.
After a brief pause, Eddie’s eyes lifted, and he locked his gaze on Nydia. “They will face the consequences,” he muttered.
Outside, someone had somehow managed to get a fire extinguisher.
“Move aside! I’m breaking the door down! I’m going to make Nydia pay with her life,” the man shouted, his eyes bloodshot and full of murderous intent.
The crowd instinctively parted to make way for hun. As he raised the fire extinguisher, the sprinkler system suddenly activated, releasing a torrent of water.
“Ah!” Everyone was drenched, turning into drenched messes.
As Maisie tried to get up from her kneeling position, she was shoved and trampled in the chaos. Her leg felt like it was broken, the pain causing her whole body to shake.
As the crowd scattered in all directions, the emergency exit signs lit up, immediately causing a stampede.
“It poked me! It hurts!” someone screamed.
“Run, it’s dangerous!” others yelled.
Outside, panic spread like wildfire.
However, inside the ICU, everything remained eerily calm.
Eddie’s fingers gently pressed “enter“, and the computer screen instantly changed.
A man appeared on the screen, his face covered with acne, sitting in a gaming chair and
picking his nose, humming a tune with a smug expression.
Suddenly, Jim Skinner seemed to sense something. His hands froze on the keyboard. The next moment, his smug look vanished, replaced by sheer panic.
“No way! My program… Why is it all gone? Impossible! It can’t be!”
He pounded the keyboard furiously, even grabbing his hair in frustration. But it was useless.
Chester
“Shift!” Jim jumped to his feet, nearly smashing the keyboard.
“Who is it? Who’s doing this? There was no way anyone could track me through the network. You must not be Elipians.”
