Xavier didn't slow down just because Colin joined us, but I thought he sounded like he was talking with gritted teeth.

I stood on the steps to wait for Colin as he went to get the car.

"Ulterior motives? Come on, Colin. Are you overthinking it? I'm not money that everybody wants."

She was as stubborn as a mule. Once she set her mind on something, it would be very hard for her to change her mind.

Sure enough, on the day he returned, Andrew insisted on sending her to the company's entrance. But Queenie didn't even spare him a glance, let alone say a word to him. She treated him as if he were invisible.
