Chapter 6 

Alexander never showed for lunch. 

Instead, I received a call from Jake Wilson, a notorious paparazzo. His team had captured photos and footage of Alexander with Claire. Too afraid to approach Alexander directly, he’d come to me. 

I felt nothing about these photos anymore. 

Still, I should inform Alexander. His phone went straight to voicemail. 

When I called his assistant, he stammered, “Mr. Sinclair is…” 

A haughty voice cut in from the background: “Miss Claire said she and Mr. Sinclair are not to be disturbed during their afternoon rest.” 

I hung up, words dying in my throat. 

Moments later, Claire texted: “Alexander’s exhausted and sleeping. Tell me what you need, I’ll pass it along when he wakes.” 

She attached a photo: Alexander asleep in her trailer, tie loosened, features relaxed. Despite appearing deep in slumber, his fingers were intertwined with Claire’s. 

I pocketed my phone, burying my heartache with it. 

Rising. I followed the crew toward the set. 

Thirty minutes later, a massive explosion rocked the studio lot. 

Sirens pierced the air, growing closer. 

Alexander heard it from Claire’s trailer but didn’t react immediately. Checking his watch, he said, “Claire, I should check on Evelyn’s explosion scene. This film is my apology to you for her behavior.” 

Before Claire could protest, his assistant pounded on the door: “Sir! There’s been an accident with Mrs. 

Sinclair!TM 

Alexander froze. “The schedule said three o’clock.” 

“It was moved up… She waited for you at lunch, but when you didn’t come, she hadn’t eaten, so they—” 

“Why wasn’t I informed?” Alexander roared.
