Bryce paced around the hospital like a mad man. Even Mariam couldn't get it him to calm down or sit or do anything. It's been hours since they took her inside with them. It's been hours since he nearly beat up a doctor that tried to stop him from going in there with her. They weren't saying anything to him and it was only a matter of time before he looses his brain cells completely.

This situation was very antagonizing and it just catapulted him back to that time he was trying so hard to forget and moved past from.

Bryce felt his hands tremble. Each time he thought of Hera in that state that he had met her, his entire body shook involuntarily. It was happening again just like it did in the past. Just like it happened to his mother. He rubbed his hands together nervously.

No. It cannot be. Hera will be fine and his baby...oh God his child! How could he have missed it. Is this another punishment from him up there? Hera hasn't done anything wrong so why was he taking it out on her and not him? He could've at least spared her life and come after his. That would've been so much better.

"Bryce." Mariam touched his bloodied arm that had dried up, leaving stains on his clothes. "Why don't you go home and change? You're covered in blood."

"This is all my fault Mariam. I should've known." He broke down completely. His head throbbing as he tried to force himself to stay sane. "She tried to tell me that she was pregnant and i..." He trailed off, the words stuck in his throat, choking him. This was a new kind of pain and it hurts. He was scared of loosing her and the baby.

Who would've thought that a while back, he never dreamt of having kids but it's here and he hasn't even fully digested in and now, he's almost on the verge of loosing it.

"Hera will be fine Bryce." Mariam said in comfort as she tried to console him. "And so will your baby. Nothing will happen to both of them."

"But how didn't i figure it out Mariam? Why didn't i?"

"Hera never wanted to tell you." Mariam said, shocking him. "Even she found out about it yesterday. I begged her to tell you but she was scared. I don't know where she got the notion that you would hate her if you found out."

"She kept on saying that you never wanted children and she didn't want to force it on you. She was planning on moving back to the convent when this happened."

It was his fault. He had scared her off. He had told her that he never wanted to get married and that he never wanted to have kids. That's why she hid it from him. That's why she kept on asking him about it last night but he had been too stupid to realize it. He had been too dumb to understand what she had been trying to tell him. He had brushed her off to the point where she even wanted to leave him.

"Then Miss Nella came over to the house." She went on. "I didn't know how to send her away without your permission and that's why I called you over. I was scared that she might do something to hurt Hera so i had to let you know."

Before Bryce could say something, the doctor rushed out of Hera's ward and he hurriedly approached him. The look on his face wasn't pleasant and it only added to Bryce's worries. His heart sank to the pit of his stomach as he braced himself for whatever he was about to tell him.

"How is she doctor?"

"Due to the fall, your wife suffered from a condition that is called placental abruption." The doctor informed him. "This is when blood cells from the fetus goes into the bloodstream of the mother causing fatal casualties."

Bryce swallowed hard. "Will she be alright?"

"In most cases, the child might suffer from head injuries, Internal bleeding in both the child and mother, damage to the uterus and In rare cases, death of the mother or child." He added.

"We've administered treatment which knocked her unconscious for now and until she wakes up, we can't tell so we'll have to keep her under close observation for at least twenty four hours sir but I'll do my best."

"Please do everything you can." He pleaded. The doctor patted him on the shoulder and walked away briskly leaving him to fight with his own demons that came one after the other.
