Doctors running. Nurses speedily pushing a hospital cart into Hera's room. The whole ward was in chaos yet Bryce couldn't figure out what was happening. No one would talk to him and no one would tell him what's going on.

He had tried to stop a nurse but even she couldn't give him a reasonable response. It shouldn't be what he was thinking. It should never be what he is thinking. It just can't be. The doctor rushed out of her ward and Bryce had no other choice but to corner him.

"What's happening Doctor? Where is Hera? What's going on?" The words rushed out of his mouth before he could stop it. "Why is no one talking to me?"

"She's crashing sir." He breathed out. "But i can assure you that we're doing everything we can to sustain her. Hopefully, she responds to treatment because at this rate, all i can say is that you should brace yourself for the worst." The doctor stated and ran off to join the others almost immediately.

Bryce froze. His head reeling from fear and uncertainty. He has heard those words before. Those were the exact same words the doctor had said to his father back then.

"...We'll do everything we can sir..." They had told him that day but they didn't. His mother died right after. Mariam who heard the what the doctor had said had already started bawling her eyes out.

Was he really supposed to wait for the inevitable to happen?

"Sir?" Mariam has called out to him, stretching Hera's phone towards him. "It's the sisters from the convent. I told them about what happened to Hera and they want to speak with you."

Bryce stared at the device in Mariam's hands. He was hesitant to take the phone from her. What would he say to them? And if they know that Hera was pregnant, what would they say to him? How will they handle that kind of news? She was their family and he didn't feel good being the one to tell them about it but what choice does he have?

Without saying much, he took the phone from Mariam and placed it to his ears. "Sister Martha?"

"Bryce my dear, how are you? How are you holding up?" She had asked instead. He was stunned. He had expected her to yell and curse at him but here she was talking to him as if nothing has happened.

"I'm so sorry sister. I know that i promised to take care of Hera and i have broken that promise to you and everyone. I feel so ashamed that i don't even know what to say right now." His voice cracked but he was welding himself to stay strong.

"It's not your fault my child. Accidents happen and blaming yourself for it won't do you any good." She chided him. "You've already suffered enough so i won't allow you take the burden for this one. Hera wouldn't let you do that as well."

"The doctors are saying that she might not make it out alive and I'm scared sister. I'm scared that i won't ever get to see her again." He confessed bitterly, not mincing words. He was pouring out his emotions to her right now and he didn't care what might become of him after this.

He doesn't even care if Hera is forced to stay away from him after this but all he wants is for her to wake up. He wants her to get better and he'd take any chance he'd get just to see it happen.

He had endangered her life and if he hadn't let his guard down then Nella wouldn't have gotten the chance to hurt her. Everything happening right now had his name written all over it.
