For hours, Alexander sat in silence, his mind a battlefield of worst case scenarios. His family were out there somewhere, and he had no idea where. Every second that passed felt like an eternity, a slow, torturous countdown to a fate he couldn’t bear to imagine. 

The whole world was going crazy over the news, but none of them have a first hand feeling of what was going on. 

Then, the door slammed open. Kevin stumbled inside, breathless, clutching a phone so tightly his knuckles had turned pale. “Sir, we have a message.” 

Alexander jumped to his feet and hurriedly grabbed the phone; his grasp on it was so hard his knuckles turned white, and he clicked on the message, but the message he had just received didn’t make any sense at all. 

It was just an address and nothing else. 

No threats. No demands. No explanation. 

Just an address. 

Alexander’s brows furrowed as his eyes scanned the words over and over again, his brain refusing to accept what he was seeing, and then it clicked in his head that the address wasn’t just an ordinary address. 

It was the site of a house that had burned to the ground fifteen years ago. 

With brows clenched, Alexander handed the phone back to Kevin. 

But still, the message still does not make any sense considering the fact that the family who owns the building had all died in a very terrible fire fifteen years back. 

“Sir, the police are already on it.” Kevin instantly added. 

But Alexander wasn’t going to sit around and wait. 

He snatched his car keys and stormed toward the door. 

“Sir, wait!” Kevin hurried after him, barely able to keep up. “Let’s wait for the police. They’ll…” 

He sprinted to his car, throwing himself into the driver’s seat and revving the engine. He had no time to wait. If Annie had taken Emma and the twins there, if they were trapped in that ruin, he had to get there now. 

The past clawed at his mind as he sped out of the garage, tires screeching against the pavement.
