The man’s eyes were filled with a mix of amusement and a hint of pressure as he gazed at Lizetta.

Lizetta’s hands, resting on her lap, clenched tightly, her breath catching in her throat. She widened her eyes in disbelief at the audacity of the man before her.

“You…”

Before she could voice her refusal, Remington raised an eyebrow and interrupted.

“What do you mean, 'you'? Haven’t you falsely accused me? It's only fair you make it up to me. I never taught you to be a trickster when you were a kid.”

Lizetta pursed her lips. “Yeah, well, you didn’t teach me how to take advantage either!”

She had agreed to give him a chance to woo her, but that didn’t mean she had agreed to be his girlfriend. Yet, throughout the day, he acted like a boyfriend in training, taking every opportunity to be close.

And now, he expected her to make the first move? Absolutely not!

“Take advantage? Didn’t teach you that? Well, let me teach you now.”

If pushing boundaries would get her to open up just a little, Remington was all for it.

Lizetta was at a loss for words, staring at the man who waited expectantly for a kiss. She didn’t budge.

No way was she going to indulge him!

She turned her head deliberately, avoiding his gaze, refusing to play along.

She thought this would make him back off, but then the traffic light turned green, and he still showed no sign of driving.

He remained turned towards her, saying, “Ms. Madden, hurry up, or Officer Friendly's going to pay us another visit.”

Just as he finished speaking, a car horn blared from behind them.

Lizetta glanced in the rearview mirror and saw Officer Friendly approaching on his bike.

He watched her with a smile. “Liz, are you shy now?”

Lizetta hugged her teddy bear, tugging at its ears, and shot him a glance.

“Just drive.”

Remington’s lips curved into a slight smile as he continued, “Next time, you’ll kiss me first, a real French kiss.”

Lizetta’s face, just beginning to cool, flushed again. “You’ve got some lofty dreams there.”

Remington raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, my ultimate dream is for Liz to marry me.”

Lizetta gave him another look. “Well, that’s a tall order. My family’s not too keen on someone like you.”

She was reminding him that her grandparents didn’t think highly of him, yet he still dared to dream.
