"Wait, are you saying that just because your family doesn't like something, you automatically love it?" Remington teased, his voice dripping with playful sarcasm.
Lizetta glanced up, catching his gaze in the rear-view mirror. Those deep-set eyes of his seemed to hold entire galaxies within them. Her heart skipped a beat, and the retort she was about to throw at him vanished from her mind. She cursed herself inwardly for being so easily flustered by him, feeling utterly defenseless against his charm.
Trying to regain her composure, she diverted the conversation, irritation lacing her words. "Do you have any idea where Yoli is? Cassius took her, didn’t he?"
"Relax, Cedric is on it. We’ll know soon enough," Remington assured her.
True to his word, within minutes, they drove into an upscale neighborhood. Cassius’s mansion was nestled right at the center, bordered by a serene lake. The three-story European-style villa was surrounded by lush greenery, exuding an air of tranquility.
As they approached, Remington noticed a sleek Koenigsegg parked out front. "That’s Cassius’s car," he remarked, smoothly pulling over.
Before he could unbuckle and open her door, Lizetta had already sprung out of the car. But in her haste, she didn’t notice a small stone on the sidewalk. Her foot slipped, and she stumbled forward.
Remington was out of the car in an instant, reaching out to steady her with his long arm. She found herself pressed against his chest, clutching the fabric of his shirt, her eyes wide with surprise.
With a playful smirk, Remington looked down at her. "Well, Ms. Madden, I haven’t even started chasing you, and here you are, jumping right into my arms."
"Yoli!" Lizetta screamed, her voice mingling with Cassius’s own cry of shock and anger.
Cassius lunged forward, trying to grab Yolanda, but he only managed to catch the sleeve of her robe. The fabric slipped through his fingers, and she fell.
A loud splash echoed as she hit the swimming pool below, water erupting in a cascade of droplets.
"Yoli! Cassius, get her out of there!" Lizetta shouted, sprinting toward the pool, desperate for help.
