Shawne’s POV

Me: What? Nigga you ain’t never met no Jamie Foxx. And he definitely didn’t steal yo damn pink cocktail!

Dom: This one was blue! And that ain’t the only thing that nigga ran off with. Went to the bar to cop a drink and came back to meet him rocking my date the rest of the damn night. Smh. Had to take my L and go lmao. Ain’t about to compete with no Jamie fucking Foxx.

I cackle out loud and send a couple of laughing emojis to show my appreciation for the semi-embarrassing story. It’s been a whole week since she’d shown up to my work place unannounced and it already feels like a lifetime ago. After I’d closed the deal on her car, we’d exchanged numbers. It was my idea but I’d been a little hesitant giving her my digits. I didn’t want to deal with some shit in my messages but so far she’s been nothing but cool. And hella funny. I was beginning to think this friendship thing was actually gonna work. Good thing too since I seemed to have lost my actual friends. I clicked on Cleo’s contact and let out a heavy sigh. She hadn’t responded to my last six texts and I didn’t know what the hell to do anymore. This is the longest we’ve ever not talked and I’m low key freaking out. Was that it? We’re we done? The mudafucker I’d yelled at was cool with me now but she still got that damn stick up her ass. Another texts comes in from Dom and I tap on it.

Dom: What you up to lil nigga?

I sent back an eye roll.

Me: Stop calling me that.

And I’m thinking bout going to see my friend, but idk.

Dom: How come?

I hesitated. So far, we’d put all the initial awkwardness I’d caused behind us. I didn’t wanna bring up that shit again. After a few minutes though, I replied.

Me: We kinda had a disagreement. About you.

Dom: What??

Me: She wasn’t cool with how I acted at yo club…

There was a pause and then my phone beeped.

Dom: Oh. Lol. That’s sweet.

Me: Uh… not for me nigga!

Dom: Lmao. I see. Can I assume she’s the one who talked some sense into ya?

Me: One of many

Dom: ??

Me: Chantel may have called to tear up my ass.

Dom: Lmao. Glad to know I got hidden angels fighting my battles.

Me: Yeah, yeah. I was a dick. Big surprise. Can we focus on something else than yo lil fan club now?

She sent back some laughing emojis and I had to smile despite my shitty mood.

Dom: Okay. What’ve you done to grovel?

Me: I mean, I sent her a couple of texts. Called her almost everyday this week too. She lucky I like her. I woulda left a bitch after the second time she make me double text her ass.

Dom: But this ain’t just any ‘bitch’. This yo friend and you actually give a shit.

I sigh. Ain’t that the truth.

Me: Yeah.

Dom: Well why don’t you go see her?

Me: Tried that before. Didn’t work.

Dom: Was that before or after we kissed and made up?

Me: Uh… I remember no kissing.

Dom: Lmao. It’s an expression nigga. Just answer my damn question.

Me: Fine. Before.

Dom: Hmm. Well have you told her you’ve fixed things?

Me: Well I would if she’d respond to my damn texts! Ugh.

I feel like I may have really fucked shit up this time.

Dom: Nah. She’s just waiting for you to come to ya senses.

Me: But I have!

Dom: So go tell her.

Me: I did. She didn’t listen to me. How tf am I gonna convince her I’m really sorry?

Dom: Just do what you did with me.

Me: And what’s that?

Dom: Show her you mean it.

I stared at her last text for a moment. I really had meant my apology to her. Sure my anal boss had been breathing over my damn shoulder but I’d have done it either ways. After talking to Cleo that day I’d done a lotta thinking and felt shitty as hell for overreacting. She was right. Chantel was right. We were all gay. Just cause I didn’t fuck with they type didn’t mean I had to piss on it.

Me: Okay.

Dom: You going over to hers now?

Me: I mean… I was gonna text her first to see if I can come over?

Dom: Lol. Don’t.
