If Anastasia did not get poisoned, she would have been much happier. She would have been a beautiful and confident young lady with many friends instead of having low self-esteem and staying cooped up at home all the time.

All these years, she had suffered physically and mentally. Cameron was well aware of that. Although he said nothing much about it, it hurt him to see how she was. However, Maria wanted to take credit for looking high and low for the miracle doctor. It was ridiculous.

“Anastasia…” Maria knew what Cameron meant by that, and she finally understood that he would go by what was right or wrong even though they were his relatives. Therefore, she thought of begging Anastasia instead and wanted to hold the latter’s leg.

Anastasia moved away and stared at the teary-eyed Fabian and Maria before she looked at Cameron. “Daddy…”

“I told you I’ll handle this. You stay out of it!” Cameron raised one hand, signaling for Anastasia to stay silent. He knew his daughter was soft-hearted and would give in to their request. Hence, he would be the bad guy this time.

“Dad. Mom. Stop begging him.” Rhea removed her hand from her cheek. She was calm, and there was no sign of panic or fear on her face.

She looked up at Cameron before her and said, “Uncle Cameron, you’re determined to put me behind bars, aren’t you?”

“Anyone who commits a crime should be punished in the court of law,” Cameron justified.

“Okay. I agree with that,” Rhea nodded and continued, “I admit I was the one who poisoned Anastasia, but there are some other things I want to tell you.”

“What is it?” Cameron frowned and looked at Rhea doubtfully.

In other words, Cameron was saying the secret must have been one with utmost confidentiality for it to make up for the harm she had caused Anastasia over the years.

“Uncle Cameron, you’re the decision-maker here. It all depends on how worthy you think it is. I won’t have any objections to your decision!” Rhea raised one hand, showing she was sincere.

Cameron stared at her for a moment, seeming to be judging the weight of the truth in her words.

Anastasia, who was by his side, was stunned. “Daddy…”
