Dr. Blanc did not speak as he just stood aside and watched.
Lily checked the patient's pulse before standing up and disinfecting her hands. Then she walked out of the room.
Dr. Morris stared at her back doubtfully, waiting for her to speak. However, she left without saying a word.
He glanced at Dr. Blanc, who didn't seem to want to question her, and pursed his lips. He then followed behind her and went to the next room quietly.
They went into one room after another. There were patients of all ages here. After reading the pulses of more than a dozen people, Lily was starting to get a little tired.
Dr. Blanc immediately picked up on her fatigue and asked with concern. "Do you want to take a break? I think we can wrap it up for today. We're almost done anyway."
However, she shook her head. "It's okay. I'm fine!"
She wanted to see a few more cases. By pooling the data from different people under similar conditions, she could form a more robust hypothesis.
When she got to the next room, she felt a tug in her heart.
Inside, sitting at the head of the bed, playing with a toy, was a child who was no more than three or four years old. The little girl's hair was a mess. She seemed focused on the toy in her hands. When she heard movement, she looked up nervously.
This case seemed to hit too close to home. The little girl seemed to be around Galen's age. Lily had never expected that there would already be a patient this young here.
"Is she also infected?" Lily pointed at the child with trembling fingers, secretly hoping to hear a "No."
Such a reflexive action made Lily's heart ache even more. Lily stretched out her hand, but the girl moved further away. "No. I'm not going to poke you. I just want to touch your wrist to see if you've lost weight. Is that okay?"
"Are you really not going to poke me?" The little girl looked at her suspiciously, as if she were afraid that Lily was lying to her.
Lily nodded affirmatively and raised her hands. "I promise! Look! I didn't bring any needles with me. How can I give you an injection without any needles?"
Seeing this, the little girl was finally relieved and slowly stretched out her arm.
Her arm was so skinny that it looked like it would break with a touch. Lily carefully put her finger on the little girl's wrist as she studied her face. Lily's heart was thumping against her chest.
She was extremely distraught by the sight of this little girl!
