Lily went in after her, then gave Alexander a look to signal him to join her.

Glancing around the place, Lily saw that it was a bit messy. Olivia was a neat person who usually kept the apartment tidy. However, now the carpet lay crooked, the trash can was almost overfilled, and drinkwares were placed haphazardly on the table. There were traces of someone lying on the sofa, with the cushions everywhere.

However, they only saw her and not Edward.

When she was downstairs, Lily wanted to ask about Edward’s health, but she changed her mind after seeing Olivia’s uncharacteristic attitude.

“Olivia, you hardly called me recently, although not much is happening at the studio. Did something happen?” She paused and watched as Olivia poured a glass of water, then asked tentatively, “Is it because of Edward?”

Even though Olivia was facing away from her, Lily could see her shoulders shudder. A few seconds later, Olivia brought the glass over and gave it to Lily.

Then, fixing her stare on Alexander, she said in a quivering and hateful voice, “Perhaps you should ask him!”

Alexander was baffled.

“You had asked me who I would choose if you and Alex were on opposing sides, and now you’re saying that? Just what the hell happened? What has it got to do with Alex?” After a pause, Lily continued, “You’re right! Edward was injured and put in danger because he tried to protect Alex. If you hate him because of that, then I can understand.”

Surprised, Alexander did not know that Olivia once asked Lily such a question. ‘What does she mean by choosing between her and me? Why does Lily have to make such a choice? How are we on opposing sides?’

Without waiting for her to continue, Alexander raised a hand to stop her and said, “Hold on a minute! If I’m not mistaken, you’re trying to say that I used Edward as a human shield to save myself, and that’s how I came back. That means you think I pushed him and left him out to dry?”

Lily asked, “How could that be possible?”

‘He would never do that! Besides, we discussed it when I first met Alex after he returned, and he told me a different story.’

“Yeah, how could that be possible?” Olivia chuckled bitterly, but she repeated the sentence in a sarcastic tone.
