“I knew you were not being controlled.” Sure enough, Lily was not concerned about what he was saying. She was just staring at Edward intensely.

Only his eyes were visible, and he appeared to be exhausted. However, there was no malice in his gaze. His eyes were clear instead of blank, indicating he was not under control.

‘If Edward isn’t under control, why would he say such terrible things to Liv? Why would he have a falling out with Alex? Most importantly, when did Edward get here?

‘Was he here long ago, or did he just infiltrate the area? It could be something Alex arranged, or Edward could’ve come here of his own accord.’

“Well…” Edward sighed heavily, appearing to be helpless. “Yeah.”

“Wait a minute. What are you guys talking about? Why don’t I understand anything?” Mike interjected. He thought the two were using code to communicate and could not understand what they said. He felt like an outsider.

Back then, Mike felt he had many secrets he could not tell others. But now, it appeared he was the one who knew nothing.

At this moment, Edward finally turned and glanced at Mike. “Mr. Corden, they won’t release your son even if you were to die here.”

Mike was astonished by his words. It sounded cruel, but Mike knew Edward was merely stating a fact.

With the mysterious man’s cunningness and cruelty, it seemed he wanted to keep controlling Mike by holding his son hostage. Hence, Mike never gave up on searching for his son, even if he had no choice but to serve here forever.

It was close to impossible for them to release his son.

“Did Alex ask you to come here?” Mike asked. This was something Lily was doubtful about as well.

‘If Alex instructed Edward to come here, why didn’t he tell Lily about it? He wouldn’t hide anything from Lily.’

‘He’s in a hurry. I saw him looking at the time earlier. What’s he waiting for?’

“What do you mean by that?” Mike was puzzled. “Also, where did the boss go? Did you hide him somewhere?”

“Do you think you can escape after we leave?”

There were many more people in the organization besides the mysterious man. Lily and Mike still had not figured out their web of connections and network yet.

Edward’s gaze turned darker as he said lightly, “I’ve never thought about escaping.”

Mike was stunned, and the same went for Lily. “Are you planning to die here with them?”
