“Although I don’t participate in the experiment, I know the development of the drug has taken too long,” Rick said, getting to the point, “I don’t care if you can’t do it or are stalling, but I’m running out of patience.”
“I want to see the final result by tomorrow,” he said, his tone as frigid as his gaze.
Lily frowned. Before she could say anything, he added, “Don’t give me any excuses. I don’t f*cking care if you can succeed, but I want a result by tomorrow.”
“So what you want is not a result but an excuse to kill me?” Lily coldly chuckled as she spoke.
‘Tomorrow? How can that be possible?’
Rick shook his head. “I don’t need an excuse to kill you, and I can do it anytime. For your information, I do want the drug, but we’ve delayed the experiment far too many times! In short, I want the result tomorrow. As for the boss,” he paused, “ I don’t f*cking care.”
Then he turned aside and let out a cold sneer. He walked past Mike and glanced at him, “Mr. Corden, seriously, your tricks are futile against the organization.”
Mike was at a loss for words. He stared after Rick as the latter entered the lift without looking back. Then the sound of the elevator slowly moving downward echoed.
“What do you think?” Mike turned to Lily, asking, “Does he genuinely not care about the boss's whereabouts, or is he trying to mislead us?”
Since he was unfamiliar with Rick, he could not know his thoughts or how truthful his words were.
Baffled, Mike looked at her and asked, “What are you talking about? You’re kidding, right?”
“Anyway, it’s good they are running out of time. The more they feel rushed, the more likely they’ll expose their secret.” She thought momentarily, then said, “What do you plan to do about the boss?”
‘Rick said he doesn’t care if the boss was around and might not even look for him.’
“I have to transfer the boss somewhere else.” Mike frowned and said, “I think Rick should know about that secret room and probably hasn’t considered it since the dust hasn’t settled yet. When he does, they’ll surely search the place.”
“It’s easy for others to learn about the boss’s whereabouts if you transfer him.” Lily became pensive, thinking it was not a good solution.
