“I have a way.” Mike lowered his voice, saying, “I handled several things when we first moved here, so I’m familiar with the routes and surveillance systems. There’s a route—”

Lily seemingly realized something and suddenly interrupted him, “We might not need to trouble ourselves with it.”

Mike was puzzled. “What do you mean?”

She tipped her chin toward a nonfunctioning surveillance camera, removed the signal jammer from her person, and tossed it aside. “Has it ever occurred to you that he might’ve done all of this in front of us just to show he knows what we’re up to, even without the help of these gadgets? Besides, is he implying the higher-ups have already given up on the boss?”

“Given up on him?” Mike found it hard to believe. After all, he had previously heard about the organization through the masked man, who was his sole point of contact.

Although he knew the mysterious organization supported the “boss,” he never interacted directly with it. To him, the masked man was a messenger but simultaneously represented the mysterious force.

Fearing the man, the mysterious organization, and the possible harm they could inflict on his son, Mike forgot the “boss” was probably just someone else’s pawn. When a chess game was at its end, one could sacrifice pawns.

“Would they?” He could not be sure.

However, what Lily said puzzled him.

‘Did Edward’s actions indirectly change the organization’s plans or cause them to speed things up? Perhaps the organization had already intended to abandon the boss but hadn’t done it for some reason.

‘If that were the case, did his disappearance fulfill the organization’s wishes? Still, these are just speculations since we have no proof.’

Mike felt slightly confused after thinking about it. He shook his head before suddenly remembering something important. “But Rick wants you to deliver the result tomorrow. What will you do about that?”

Compared to Mike’s slightly worried demeanor, Lily seemed calm as she smiled. “Well, I’ll give him what he wants.”
