It has been a long time since I felt genuine happiness from the things that were happening to me. It has been a long time since I felt relief. Maybe my heart was slowly healing. It was slowly being healed by the same person who caused its wounds.
I wore the clothes that were bought for me. It was a pair of maternity dress and leggings. The combination was black and white, while there was a big flower design at the chest part. It was a blooming sunflower.
When I finished dressing up, I got out of the room. My strides were careful as I walked towards the kitchen. From afar, I could already hear Atlas' mother and Leklek's laughter.
I smiled instantly when I saw them facing the kitchen counter. They were chatting while being busy with their own tasks. They didn't even notice my presence at first. I was happy at the sight but it brought a little sting inside my heart. I missed my mom so much because of them.
"Ahemm!" I cleared my throat to gather their attention. I didn't fail as both of them turned to me. "Good morning, Mama."
"Good morning to you too, dear. You arrived at the right time. We're gonna deliver some food at the plantation, so you come as well. Let's eat there with them. Atlas is also there!" she said cheerfully.
I nodded and came closer to them. They were preparing foods into a plastic container. It was a lot and it didn't fit in one basket.
"I'll help you with that, Ma," I offered. I pouted when she didn't even respond. I am bored but Atlas' mom kept on declining my help. She said I should just sit and watch.
After a few moments, we're already walking the way to the sugarcane plantation that they own. Leklek offered her sneakers and I gladly took them. It was a good thing that I accepted it because I never expected the rood to be so steep and rocky. It was a rough road and it was very dusty.
Nonetheless, I was amazed with the farms we passed by. There were different agricultural plants because of the good soils of the town. Almost everything was sugarcane plants and most of them are almost ready for harvest. The place was really wide. The land was said to be owned by Hacienda Vergara and Hacienda Guerrero.
There are also tall trees often seen beside the road. At the very least, it helped us fight the heat with its shade. Aside from that, it's also a great help for our environment.
"Are you tired now, Olive?"
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Mama's voice behind me. Maybe she noticed that I was slowly getting short of breath. I was starting to get slow because of my situation, even though I knew that it's good for my baby.
I stopped and looked at her slightly. "Not really, Mama. It's my first time doing this, maybe I'm just not used to it yet," I said.
