"Ugh, what should we do? Leila's still in charge. This is going to be a bad day," Fanny groaned, furrowing her eyebrows as she complained to Wade.

Wade simply smiled and said coolly, "Don't worry, Fanny. President Lu's back. I don't think Leila's going to be in charge anymore."

Fanny breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

Meanwhile, Leila had followed Charles upstairs.

Charles headed to his own office, and Leila followed him inside.

When they walked in, Leila was a little embarrassed. She pointed her fingers at her files on Charles' desk and explained, "Sorry that I used your desk. It was more convenient for me to work here. I'll ask someone to move them out now."

"It's okay. I understand." Charles smiled at Leila.

Leila then called the secretary.

Charles sat on his chair. He seemed to be lost in thought. A few minutes later, he said to Leila, "I want to hold a board meeting after an hour."

"Yes, President Lu. I'll arrange it right now," Leila answered anxiously as she glanced at Charles. She then left the office and promptly booked the meeting.

She was pretty efficient, and within half an hour, Leila had set everything up. Charles headed to the conference room just a few minutes before the meeting was about to start.

All the board members had already been waiting for Charles in the room when he walked in.

They were whispering to each other. Charles was finally back. They were getting impatient already as they didn't trust Leila. Now that Charles was back, a weight had been lifted off their shoulders.

"President Lu," they greeted Charles.

David followed Charles inside. And Leila, lowering her head, walked into the conference room too.

Actually, Leila didn't intend to attend the meeting. After all, she didn't know what Charles was planning to do to her. However, Charles had asked her to come to the meeting. She had no choice but to agree.

The moment Charles walked in, the board members became very excited. They were all standing up and welcoming him back with a warm round of applause. Charles nodded his head and gestured for them to sit down before he did.

Charles couldn't help but get emotional because it had been so long since he had last walked into this room.

Before he spoke, he gave the room a quick glance. "Thank you all for your hard work these past few weeks, everyone."

"That's our job, President Lu. It's our duty to do our job. You're very welcome," one of the board members answered Charles.

Charles then immediately started the meeting. He assigned work to be done and made a few personnel changes. Then he finally addressed the elephant in the room—Leila's position.

"I think you all know how much work Leila has been doing the whole time I was away. If it weren't for her, I don't think the company would have made such progress, so I've decided to retain her position as executive director." Charles smiled at Leila as he made the announcement. It seemed as if he completely trusted Leila.

None of the board members said anything upon hearing this.

So Charles continued, "Leila, thank you for your hard work. When the meeting's done, you can go to the Accounting Department to get your bonus. Then you may have two days off to rest."

The minute that Leila had walked into the conference room, she had become very confused. When she first heard Charles, she had thought that she had heard him wrong. 'What the hell is happening? So Charles isn't going to fire me, and he's even giving me a bonus and a vacation?' she thought to herself as she blankly stared at Charles.

"What, Leila? Do you have any objections?" Charles asked Leila indifferently.
