Key: The Apple of My Eye Chapter 1870 Take Care Of Melissa
"Sher, why are you here?" Cassie asked Sheryl in disbelief, her eyes widening.
Leila smiled upon seeing Cassie. She knew that Cassie was a good friend of Sheryl's, and this was the perfect time to humiliate Sheryl in front of her friend. She glanced at Charles, but he didn't seem to care, so she decided to exaggerate things a little bit.
Leila sneered at Sheryl. "Sheryl, if I were you, I would be leaving right now. The longer you stay here, the more embarrassing it is for you."
"Leila, what are you talking about?" Cassie asked immediately.
Leila turned her head and shot a cold glance at Cassie, saying, "What am I talking about? Well, why don't you ask your good friend here what she's done."
Leila was so confident as she spoke, while Sheryl remained silent out of frustration. Cassie couldn't help but be worried when Sheryl didn't defend herself. She figured something really bad must have happened because she knew Sheryl wasn't the type of person to tolerate this kind of treatment unless she had really done something wrong.
The normal response to this was to get angry and defend oneself.
However, Sheryl didn't seem to care at all. She was just ignoring Leila. Cassie couldn't help but wonder if Sheryl had really heard Leila or if she just didn't know how to fight back against Leila. Either way, Cassie wasn't going to let Leila treat Sheryl like this.
"I don't care. Stop it, Leila. Right now. You're going to pay for what you just said." Cassie gritted her teeth and glared at Leila.
Leila didn't even take Sheryl seriously, not to mention Cassie.
"Your good friend Sher pushed her mother-in-law down the stairs because she got jealous. I wonder who deserves to suffer for that," Leila practically spat as she crossed her arms.
She purposely raised her voice so that everyone passing by could hear her. She wanted everyone to know what Sheryl had done.
"Cassie, let's go." Sheryl wasn't deaf. She heard everything. She just didn't want to make another scene. She wasn't in the mood to argue with Leila, so she just grabbed Cassie's hand.
"Now you're leaving?! Don't you want to take responsibility, Sheryl?" Barring Sheryl's way, Leila stepped in front of her. Leila was glad that she was getting more and more attention, so she wouldn't let Sheryl leave. She wanted to humiliate Sheryl in public.
Cassie grew even more furious. Leila had just asked Sheryl to leave, but now she was blocking her way. She was deliberately doing this so Sheryl would get into trouble.
"Enough, Leila. Do you really think I'm not going to do anything to you?" Cassie clenched her fists.
"Let's go," Sheryl said to Cassie indifferently, her face as pale as a sheet.
Leila wanted to stop them, but Charles suddenly cleared his throat and chimed in, "Leila."
"President Lu, what's wrong?" Upon hearing Charles, Leila's heart tightened. She worried that Charles didn't like what she had just done, so she walked back inside Melissa's room.
"Let them go. My mom just went through an operation. She needs rest," Charles said coldly as he glanced at Leila.
Leila nodded her head and grew silent. She closed the door as she walked back inside and sat beside Melissa. She held Melissa's hands and sobbed, lowering her head, "Aunt Melissa, please, wake up soon. You know what? I'm so worried about you. If you don't wake up soon, I don't know what I'm going to do. Please, wake up, Aunt Melissa."
She then started to rant about Sheryl.
