I walked the crowded street towards Natasha. Since it was New Year's there was a lot going on,a lot of people were venturing out for dinners or to celebrate the new year's in a bar or Nightclub. I'm kinda glad that I get to go back to the cabin and cosy up by the fire.
"What's going on?"Natasha asked, with knitted brows."You ran out of the restaurant like you had some type of bowel emergency."
Eww!! Her mind was going places.
"Nothing,I just-"I took a bag from her hands."I just thought I saw someone that's all. Let's get back to the car, it's freezing."
Natasha and I pulled up outside the cabin, discussing the man I don't like to name. Him!! I told her that I thought I saw someone so of course I have to tell her who. Natasha knows everything about Him anyway.
"It wasn't him,Hon. You turned the guy around and it was just someone else. It wasn't Him. I don't think you need to worry about this."She tried to reassure me,but my mind was still doing it's own thing and being worrisome regardless of what I saw and what I've been told.
I shrugged a shoulder lightly."I guess,I don't know. It just looked a lot like him from behind. What if he followed me here?"
"Why now though? He's getting nowhere near you-I can promise you that."She smiled at me."You've been through enough lately,Let's start the New Year on a good note."
I smiled back."Okay!"A knock came to the window on my side of the car and I jumped with a fright. I turned my head to see Jeremy standing by the window in the snow."I guess someone is hungry."I opened the door of the car and Natasha did too.
"Is everything okay?"He asked, with a shiver in his voice."I was worried you might never come in. Let me take one of those bags."He took the bag of alcohol from my hands and waited on me to get out of the car before we walked in together.
Just like I had wanted, our night was spent by the fire drinking wine and chatting. Thankfully their was no tension in the air between Natasha and Jeremy, that would have really ruined the vibe.
"Didn't I tell you that coming here for the New Year was a good idea."Ollie looked in Jeremy's direction for an I told you so,that he wasn't going to get. "Your would have left your lovely wife at home to work at the office."
"I have a business to run,I don't have the luxury of taking time off unless my wife decides to rope me into it."Jeremy glanced in my direction, before looking back down to the scotch glass in his hand.
Say something,Vanessa. You might have kissed him...But you still have a part to play here. Just like him!!
"Sometimes I know what's best for you."I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth as he looked at me.My God, I so want to kiss him again.
"Your wife always knows what's best for you."Ollie Chuckled, and looked down at his watch."It looks like it's close to twelve now, let's get bundled up for the fireworks."
We all got up from our comfortable spots and grabbed our shoes and coats for the cold weather outside. For me it was a knee length coat, hat, scarf, gloves and boots. I like the snow, but I don't enjoy being cold.
We were standing in the snow as the fireworks lit up the dark night sky above us. I was watching the fireworks with a smile at all the different ways of them shooting up into the sky, but my favourite was the firework that shattered into thousands of sparks.
We could hear the sound of a crowd shouting the count down from afar, when they got down to 1 there was the sound of cheers and the fireworks becoming more frequent to every 2-3 seconds from all different angels.
I glanced over and saw Natasha and Ollie gigging together with faces inches apart. Their lips connected seconds later in a passionate kiss of tongues and hands wandering each others bodies.
They made me think of my parent's,it made me think back on their kisses every New Year's we spent together as a family. At the time it was the type of thing that would make me gag and giggle, but now I would give anything to see the two of them together again.
