-HIM-
I couldn't help but check my phone constantly to see if there's any message from Cybele yet. She has been away for almost a month now and I miss her terribly.
I am met with disappointment when I find no message on my phone. With a deep frown decorating my face, I go about the pack to look at the preparations for Calantha Ceremony which is marked by fall.
"What are you doing here?" I growl at Brooke when I find her sneaking into the administrative block.
"What? I am just trying to help," She frowns at me.
"You are supposed to be at home," I tell her while eyeing her swollen belly. I am going to be an uncle any day now. As much as I am happy about this, I sometimes find it hard to believe that Davis is going to be a father so soon.
He is still his old self- careless and not very serious about the duties. Everyone's in the pack hoping that fatherhood would make him more responsible and serious about life. Although, I hardly doubt that but still, I am keeping my fingers crossed.
"I am bored, Jake and when's Cybele coming?" She asks me. I sigh deeply before answering her, "I have been trying to call her but she's not answering,"
"I think she is not picking up your phone because she's driving or something. Don't worry, she'll be here!" Brooke does her best to cheer me up as always. I still feel anxious about Cybele's absence now and then but I try to be optimistic whenever she is away for work.
She finally moved into my pack last year just after finishing college. Usually, she looks after pack work while Brooke's the one who travels back and forth between the territories to make sure that the coordination is there.
Lately, Cybele's been doing most of Brooke's work, especially the travelling part since Brooke is heavily pregnant. She told me that she would come back today and I've been anticipating her arrival since last night. I hope she shows up soon.
I try to distract myself with work for the most part but I couldn't stop myself from checking my phone and calling her constantly. All my messages and calls remain unanswered. I couldn't help but grow frustrated and anxious slowly.
The ceremony is about to start and she is still not here. I try to wait for her but for the sake of not delaying it for my pack members, I end up going for the hunting ritual even in her absence. I let my wolf run freely through the woods as if searching for her.
I try to get deeper into the woods to search for prey. I soon encounter a deer whose eyes remind me so much of her. I take it down without much effort and head back to the pack. I hope she is alright and is back. I don't want to spend this special day alone.
I miss her, even more, when I return to the pack and find other couples together while she is still missing. After giving my hunt to the priest, I head inside the house to get fresh for the rest of the ceremony and also to check my phone for any update for her.
I freeze in my steps when I enter the house and her scent tingles my nose. A wide smile stretches on my lips as I follow it to my room. As soon as I open the door, I am met with her hazel eyes which brighten up as soon as she sees me.
Although she blushes deep red as soon as she realizes that I am naked but I don't miss how desire flood into my chest through the bond. I don't waste a moment to sweep her in my arms and kiss her as if it's our first and last time.
I would never forget the time when she was still staying at her parent's house after our mating and I had to visit her almost every night. We don't have the problem now but she has to go away for work now and then and it sucks for me.
"But we need to get married first," She speaks as she peers at me with her innocent doe-like eyes after I pull back. I know what she means by that. The wedding is to convince her family. Even though we have already completed the mating process, her family doesn't know the truth and we have decided to keep it that way to make sure things remain normal between us.
"I'll marry you this winter but we can start trying from now," I suggest as I tug at her bra after taking off her blouse. My wolf is already fighting me to let him take over so that he could make love to her.
I know she could feel this through the bond because her eyes are blazing with the same fire of desire that burns in my chest. I could feel it get stronger each day as it digs deeper into our soul to unite us.
"I love you," She tells me as she takes my face in her hands and kisses me.
"I love you, Cybele," I tell her before my wolf is taking over and the next thing, we burst into flames of desire. We spend the rest of the day tangled in sheets and enveloped in each other's scent, dreaming of having a family together.
