-HER-
Sunday rolls in quickly and I still find myself struggling to complete the work. I start working the first thing when I get up in the morning. I don't bother eating something until it's afternoon.
Mum and Agatha are home while dad and Agnus have gone to play golf. I make myself some pancakes before I sneak back into my room.
I check my phone for the first time since yesterday as I eat. I almost choke on my pancakes when I see my notifications flooding with messages. Most of them are from Lisa asking me to call her because she wanted to tell me something.
I scroll further down and find almost ten messages from Jake. My appetite instantly dies. My thumb hovers over his name as I contemplate whether I should read this message or not.
I see the time when his last message was sent. It was early in the morning. I soon find myself in a great dilemma. Without bothering myself to stress with it, I decided to ignore his messages. I am going to see him in college tomorrow anyway. I'll talk to him then.
Instead, I check Lisa's messages. She went to the party last and seems to have had a lot of fun. Her messages say so. I decided to call her after I am done eating.
"You should've come to the party! You missed out on such a great night!" It is the first thing Lisa says as soon as she picks up the phone. She sounds very excited as she says that. It's as if she is still there.
"My bad," I answer, finding it hard to mirror her excitement about the event.
"I had so much fun last night and..." She took a pause before continuing, "I met someone," I could hear the smile in her voice. By this, I know that the conversation is going to be more about the person rather than the party.
"Great!"
"I want to talk to you about him. Ivelle thinks that I shouldn't be this obsessed but I couldn't help," She says with a deep sigh. There's this dreamy tone in her voice which I didn't miss. Her words tempt me to check Jake's messages but I am not going to do it anytime soon. I am adamant about that.
He is not my priority.
"Wow, there must be something special about him,"
"There is..." she trails off, "I don't know how to explain it,"
"You can tell me about it," I tell her.
"I really want to talk about this. Ivelle isn't interested and Ivy is busy due to finals,"
"Wait a sec, who else went there?" I ask in confusion.
"It was only me and Ivelle. Ivy and Troy have their finals, remember?" She reminds me and soon it dawns upon me that they are seniors too and finals are just a couple of months away.
"Yeah. What about Ivelle? Did she meet him?" I ask and she sighs.
"No, she kinda left early,"
"That means you two were together last night?" I ask in bewilderment. After a stretched moment of silence, she answers, "Yes and we..."
"Did you two talk since yesterday?" I ask her as I think about Jake's texts. I am unsure if ignoring his texts would be the right thing to do but at the same time, I don't want to deal with anything related to him.
"Yes, we have been talking a lot and he has come up with plans to meet me soon this coming week," She tells me.
"That's cool. You can meet him but try to know more about him. It will give you some clarity,"
"Yes, I'll try to do that and thanks for hearing patiently,"
"You're welcome," I tell her. A moment of silence follows before I break it, "Do you want to talk more or can I cut the call?"
"Cybele," She breathes, "I want to tell you something. I haven't talked about this to Ivelle or Ivy. They may think that I am crazy," The hesitance in her voice hints away that it's something serious and it's been bothering her.
Feeling the strong urge to help her, I insure her, "You can talk to me, Lisa. You know I don't judge,"
She takes a deep breath before speaking, "I have never felt this before. He... he gives me some strange feelings that I don't recognize... it's like..." She trails off. Her words somewhat remind me so much of Jake.
"Whenever we touch, there's this strange sensation... I couldn't put it in words..." My eyes widen when I realize that I know what she's talking about. I felt it with Jake too.
This makes me think more about Jake and his messages. I am more and more tempted to find out about him and all the strange feeling that I have for him.
Should I tell Lisa about Jake?
