Brittany overheard a suspicious conversation and her eyes widened in shock. 

Her hunch was right, Stella and Thomas were actually together. 

Brittany tried to sneak away quietly, but was stopped by Joie’s assistant. She said, “Ms. Dustin, Joie invited you to dinner tonight. Can you come?” 

Joie’s assistant had been with her for a long time, so she always carried an air of arrogance no matter what she did. 

Brittany didn’t want to have anything to do with Joie. “Sorry, I already have other plans for tonight.” 

“Ms. Dustin, you’re not scared, are you?” 

The assistant frowned. Joie had already told her that Brittany had to attend tonight’s dinner or she’d lose her job, 

A provocation? 

Brittany found it amusing. If it was five years ago, she might accept the invitation. 

But now things were different. She wasn’t that naive anymore. She knew that Joie was just trying to show off her status and she wasn’t going to play into her hands. 

“If saying I’m scared will get me out of it, then yeah, I’m scared.” 

The assistant was taken aback. She never expected things to take this turn. 

Didn’t Joie say that Brittany would definitely be provoked? 

As Brittany walked out of the set, she received a call from William: 

“Bri, I can’t make it tonight; something came up.” 

The Dillion family’s project was hindered. He had to pull some more strings and negotiate with the bank. 

“Alright, do your thing.” Brittany wasn’t the clingy type. She trusted William completely. 

After hanging up, Brittany walked to the parking lot, getting ready to drive off. 

A pair of hands suddenly stopped her. “Brittany, are you sure you don’t want to come dine with us?” 

Joie’s assistant couldn’t complete the task, so Joie took it upon herself. 

Brittany didn’t understand why Joie kept bothering her, “If I come, are you sure you’ll still have the appetite??” 

Joie’s face turned pale, “Brittany, at least we were partners five years ago.” 

“Partners?” 

Brittany squinted her eyes and said in an aloof tone, “If I wasn’t your partner, how could I have fallen into Leda’s hands?” Joie’s face changed in a second, “What are you talking about?” 

“Joie, you and I both know what I’m talking about. I might not be able to beat Isaac, but taking you down is a piece of cake.” Brittany got into her car and slammed the door. 

“Ahh!” 

Joie didn’t retract her hand on time and it almost got caught in the door. She screamed out in fear. 

The assistant and others fushed over to stop Brittany, “Brittany, you scared Joie. You should apologize, okay?” 

The assistant glared at her. 

Brittany looked at Joie through the car window, a hint of a sly flashed in her eyes. “I’ll be at the dinner tonight.” 

She was crying, making a scene, and threatening. No one knew what was she going to do if Brittany didn’t agree 

“Alright.” 

Afraid that she would change her mind, Joie quickly told Brittany the restaurant’s address, “We’ll meet tonight. Don’t stand me up.” Brittany drove away. She had another issue to take care of.
