Brittany hadn’t expected Joseph to indulge Natalie to such an extent. 

Nathan gritted his teeth, struggling for a moment before saying, “I’ll handle this.” 

Brittany glanced at Kari, who was fast asleep. She wasn’t about to let this go. 

Overnight, she had people look into the matter, planning to teach Natalie a lesson during the final competition the next day. 

Dawn broke. 

When Kari woke up, Nathan was leaning against the wall with his eyes tightly shut. 

He was clad in his pajamas. He probably rushed over in the middle of the night. He looked crumpled and particularly haggard. 

Kari stirred, and Nathan, hearing the sound, opened his eyes. After seeing that she was awake, he quickly moved towards her. “Awake?” 

Kari’s eyes turned red. She instinctively wrapped her arms around his waist, and Nathan lifted her up. 

“Don’t be scared; I’m here.” 

Kari clung to his pajamas as her hot tears streamed down her face, soaking the thin fabric of his pajamas and making Nathan’s heart ache. 

“Please don’t cry.” 

Her crying was breaking his heart. 

Brittany, standing outside the door, heard her crying and felt a wave of sympathy wash over her. 

When Kari had cried enough and calmed down, Brittany pushed open the door. “The finals are about to start. Are you ready?” 

Kari, pale-faced, looked up from Nathan’s arms. “I’m ready.” 

She had worked so hard to reach this point in the competition, so she wasn’t about to give up now. 

Brittany knew how stubborn Kari was. She walked to her bedside. “Good luck in the finals.” 

Kari looked into her eyes and nodded seriously. 

News of Kari’s ordeal had almost not been spread. 

So, when she arrived at the competition venue, Natalie was momentarily surprised. 

Kari, as always, was quiet and unobtrusive in the crowd. Yet this seemingly insignificant person was the dark horse of the competition. 

The competition officially began. 

Brittany sat on the judges’ panel, watching as each contestant displayed their creations. 

When it was Natalie’s turn, Brittany looked at her beautiful face. She was indeed lovely, or else she wouldn’t have caught Joseph’s eye.
