The Billionaire's Desire novel Chapter 40

"Okay before you go crazy just stop and think about this" Jack says as soon as I walk into the office. I'm still holding my phone that still has the message opened.

I glared at him. "Jack get out of my way; I don't want to hit you so early in the morning," I said between my teeth. He sighed as he reluctantly stepped to the side.

You're probably wondering what's got me so pissed off this early in the morning. But after a wonderful night at my parent's place, I wake up to learn that Andre has only gone and taken one of my best content writers right from under me.

How, I have no fucking clue.

"what baffles me is that she thought she could just quit and not come to work. She needs to give me warning before she bails on us" I say as I find her contract on my laptop. She's got some nerve.

"what will you do, you have a meeting in 30 minutes" Toby said walking up to me with his iPad. I sighed, I completely forgot about that meeting and it's not really one that I can miss.

I grabbed my phone and pushed him out with me. "Just clear up my afternoon"

Toby nods and follows me into the conference room, giving me time to set up my presentation with the newest designs.

Few hours later I got in the car and headed to speak to Andre. Toby was adamant to come with me scared at what I would do but he didn't need to be all I wanted to do was talk.

" what a surprise Selene, please come in" Andre said as he saw me walking out of his elevator. Realising how many people were actually out here I kept my lips sealed and followed him in.

He walked over to his chair behind a cheap desk. It looked like he just moved into this office.

" Are you going to tell me why you deliberately took one of my employees or are you going to continue to pretend" I saw Toby shuffle a little, probably uncomfortable with the fact I didn't even slowly ask him.

I have got a business to run.

" oh Selene lets not throw our toys out the pram. I would do anything deliberately to try and hurt you" he answered in that sick sweet tone of his.

I rolled my eyes. " Clearly you did Andre, I don't know what game you're playing but I won't be part of it. We could have done this civilly if she really didn't want to work for me anymore"

He stood up from his chair. " there is no game here Selene. She came to me not the other way round" I scoffed I'd like to think that was true.

"and how much of your illegal money did you promise her exactly" I raised my eyes to him, daring him to come up with some lame excuse.

His silence gave me the bigger reason to believe that he really was involved.

" That's quite low of you Selene, she wanted better perks and something closer to her home and that's what I could give her, there is no need to excuse me is there" I'm surprised that he kept a straight face whilst saying this. But I already saw his initial reaction.

He got caught.

" Alright fine have her. You're lucky with her but she needs to personally give me notice and a resignation letter so if you could point in the direction of her desk that would great" I clenched my jaw and headed for the door.

I wasn't here to beg her to come back even though she has seriously increased the creativity in a lot of the campaigns. I'm just not one to beg people.

" Just so you know, I have a lot of connections and I will be making sure that not one of them gives your company a single minute of their time Andre. This isn't school any more this is real life" I said to Andre as we arrived at her desk.

Andre turned on his heel slamming the door upon exit. I finally turned to Kelsey who I noticed sunk in her seat like the coward she was.

" Look I'm not angry at you really but could you enlighten me on why you left like that?"

She reluctantly lifted her head. " I didn't mean to just get up and leave but I was dealing with something and I don't really know how but Andre found that I was searching for a new job"

That baffles me, how did he know but I had no idea.

" Look you know how it works, if you're even thinking about leaving you must talk to someone at the office. We are casual you know this you could have easily stopped me in the hall" I mean I'd probably ignore her the first time but the information would get to me eventually.

" it's just that I couldn't. the thing I was dealing with is the reason why I couldn't just do that" I narrowed my eyes. "what do you mean by that, did something happen at work. If someone did anything to you, you need to tell me now" I said.

I really hoped this wasn't what I thought it was. I knew that Kelsey wouldn't just leave like that. I take care in hiring the best of the best.

She glanced at Toby. Immediately I turned to him with a sharp look but Kelsey pulled at my hand. " it's not him I, it's Kyle. Please don't do anything I really don't want to get anyone in trouble.

Toby probably wet his pants but I rubbed his shoulder. Oops.

My eyes softened at Kelsey. " Look he was asking for trouble by overstepping the line. Do me a favour and write a statement for me and Jake. I won't ask you to come back but your job is always here okay" I grabbed my phone and sent her my private email since Kyle was one of my admins.

Always wanted a reason to kick that idiot of the team.

" you would seriously take me back?" she asked me surprised. I touched her shoulder. " I don't let good talent go to waste and plus you've only just gone and run to the devil" I said motioning to Andre's office.

She laughed a little. " thank you so much" she said with those big blue eyes.

Me and Toby soon left the building and got into an uber. " you're going to kill him aren't you?" he says as soon as we got onto the road.

I typed rapidly on my phone to Jake. " not yet, I need to read her statement first but if iit's what I think yeah im going to kill that prick"

Kyle is someone that Jake hired which probably explains it, jake was always bad and identifying bad character. He was generally good at his job but he is easily replaceable.

The minute we made it back to the office Toby made a beeline for the coffee room whilst I headed straight into my office. I slammed the door closed, angrily.
