I actually find it romantic that mum and dad still send letters to each other just like the old days. I visited mum this morning and found her sitting crossed legged on her lounge floor reading old letters that dad sent her.
I'm now driving us both to town to get some shopping done since my mother loves to shop. Its actually something she has loved ever since she was little and its her ultimate happiness.
I parked the car and linking my arm with hers and led her into the shopping centre.
I excused myself when Jack was calling me. He was a meeting this morning he originally wanted me to join him, but I had already made plans with my mum and he understood that I wanted to spend time with her.
"They want you at our next meeting, clear your schedule for Thursday," he says before abruptly hanging up and leaving me there staring at my phone.
Today was only Friday so my schedule wasn't all that busy yet.
I made a note on my phone and went to go find my mother. She wasn't too far from where I left her right next to the discounted items.
"aren't these just beautiful," she says picking up this dainty little earring which were turtles.
Mums a sucker for animal jewellery.
I grabbed them and put them into my basket, mum doesn't work anymore so she doesn't have a lot of money. When I started working, I managed all of our finances with the help of dad sending money every so often.
"I didn't say I wanted them" she grumbled, reaching for the earrings.
I pulled the basket out of her reach. "yes, you did mom. Look they're on sale it will hardly damage my bank account" I told her. I knew she didn't like taking my money but its my job to treat her now and again.
Throughout the shops, she was mainly hesitant on getting things. I pretty much just bought anything she looked at.
"try them on," I said to her, I was texting on my phone when I looked to see mum touching these beautiful pair of sneakers. Mum didn't wear sneakers much in her day it was only when I started wearing them did, she start.
The guy working picked them up and went in the back looking for her size.
She slumped down onto the seat in front of the mirrors. She can sulk all she wants but she deserves it, if she doesn't want to depend on me anymore, she can go back working but I doubt she will, she's getting old now.
The guy came back with a box of shoes. Taking them out for mum to try.
"Hey, you're that designer aren't you. I think I follow you guys on Instagram" the guy said staring at me.
Not many people recognise me because I'm kind of always in the back, its Jack that takes all the credit which I am thankful for.
"yeah that's me, want to see some sneak peeks," I said to him pulling out my phone. He seemed to be surprised but he nodded his head.
I handed him my phone I let him see our newest products. He kept scrolling through them.
"they look super fresh" he commented as he zoomed in on one specific product. I liked that one too, probably one of my favourites out of the collection.
I thanked him just in time for mum t finish tying her shoes. She stood up and walked around a little bit testing them out.
"They suit you" the guy commented taking the box from her. Mum walked up to the mirror staring at her shoes. I admit they didn't quite go with the outfit she had on, but I can imagine that she would wear these on casual days with jeans or shorts.
"we'll take them," I said to the guy. He immediately started opening the box again whilst mum removed them.
As I was paying for them, she saddled up beside me. "that's the last one, you've spent way too much on my today" she scolded me. The person at the till smiled as my mum's obvious annoyance. I can't help it I love spoiling her.
Dad would want me to.
We were leaving the department store when I spotted an apple shop not too far away from where we were.
"let's go in her, I need a new phone," I said showing her my cracked iPhone. I had the iPhone 7 and needed an upgrade especially with all the new phones just being released.
She pointed over at a café and said to meet her there.
I handed her our bags and walked inside the store.
There were many people in the store, a lot of teenagers playing with the phones. I made my way around and headed straight for the phones.
"need any help" one guy said coming straight over. He saw me looking at the Phones. I didn't know exactly which phone I wanted. Normally I like to do some research on the phone I want. But I did know that I wanted an Apple phone.
I just trust them more. They are super reliable and great for me in the work I do. Androids have always seemed complicated.
"yes actually. So, I have the 7 but it's a little laggy and personally I want one of the new ones" I said looking over the three different new phones that they had displayed.
He grabbed my phone, his thumb sliding down the crack.
"kitchen floor" I simply said. Going back to the night I had dropped my phone face first onto my kitchen floor.
Normally I have a case on it but for that specific day, I have removed it.
"yeah you definitely need an upgrade." He continued to ask me many questions on what I use my phone for, and I explained.
