Lysander didn't publicly call her out or blame her, which was more than enough to save her face.

Rosalind had always been known for her intelligence and grace. Seeing that Lysander was upset, she naturally wouldn't go against his wishes.

She took the project materials out of her backpack and handed them to Lysander, ready to leave. Still worried, she asked, "How will you get home later?"

"That's none of your concern," Lysander said.

A tear welled up in Rosalind's eyes, which she fought hard to suppress, and then she turned and walked away.

As she passed by Thalassa, she glanced at her and saw Thalassa looking at her curiously. She quickly averted her gaze, not wanting Thalassa to see her reddened eyes. She didn't want to be the butt of Thalassa's joke!

Rosalind quickened her pace and bumped into someone at the entrance of the diner, nearly falling. The person caught her, steadying her shoulders.

"Ms. Whitman, are you alright?"

David had just entered the diner when Rosalind bumped into him. Thankfully, he managed to steady her shoulders in time, or she would have fallen right into his arms.

Rosalind, with her eyes red, glanced at David and then quickly looked away, saying in a hurry, "I'm fine!"

After saying that, she walked past David and hurried away.

In that moment when Rosalind looked up, David clearly saw her eyes, red and watery like those of a frightened rabbit.

She was obviously holding back tears.

That look, vulnerable and pitiful, was like a pebble landing in David's heart, causing an unprecedented flutter within him.

She wasn't here for Lysander, nor was she eager to see him as Alaric had suggested.

Lysander was still there, and she didn't want him to think she harbored any inappropriate thoughts about him.

"Ms. Everhart, you don't really need to explain," Alaric said casually, taking a seat at the table, inwardly sighing that he was trying to help Thalassa, and she wasn't appreciative. Did she really want Lysander to be taken by Rosalind that badly?

"Your tongue seems to have gotten too free lately," Lysander said, casting a deep glance at Alaric.

Feeling the pressure, Alaric immediately shut up, "I'll just drink water, not saying anything."

As Alaric picked up his glass to drink, the door opened, and Hertha walked in with two adorable kids, immediately scanning the diner for Ethan.
