He took a sip, and his face twisted in distaste. "Ugh, that's bitter! I can't drink this, take it away!"

Alaric shivered from the bitterness.

In his entire life, he had never tasted medicine this bitter.

This bitterness was not something ordinary people could endure.

Alaric pushed the medicine back into Ethan's hands, turning his head away, not wanting to give it another glance.

Ethan, looking troubled, said, "If you don't take your medicine, how are you going to get better?"

Lydia, with her arms crossed, looked at Alaric lying in bed and said, "I only gave you acupuncture to temporarily suppress your symptoms. To truly get better, you need to take your medicine."

"I'd rather keep getting acupuncture than drink this," Alaric complained.

"I'd rather damage my liver, spleen, stomach, and kidneys..." Better than a broken heart, he thought to himself, not voicing it out loud. He sneaked a glance at Hertha standing nearby.

"Give me that medicine," Hertha suddenly stepped forward, snatching the herbal concoction from Ethan's hands.

Seeing Hertha's demeanor, Ethan knew he was outmatched and quickly stepped aside.

Hertha stood by the bed, her presence commanding, as she said to Alaric, "Come here and take your medicine!"

Her tone was very much like an adult lecturing a child.

Alaric still didn't want to take the medicine, giving Hertha a pitiful look. "Do I have to?"

"Yes, come here!" Hertha insisted.

"Swallow it!" Hertha stood in front of him, ordering.

Alaric looked up at her, eyes filled with a plea, indicating he really didn't want to swallow this extraordinarily bitter medicine.

Hertha glared at him. "Swallow! Now!"

Reluctantly, Alaric swallowed the medicine, and only when Hertha saw his Adam's apple move did she feel satisfied.

After he swallowed all the medicine in his mouth, Hertha commanded again, "Open your mouth!"
