I changed into a simple gown and waited for Peter, who showed up a minute past seven.

The whole ride was in silence and I wondered what was going on. He packed his car and we made our way to a street bench, where we have sat on several times to enjoy the evening cool breeze

"Congratulations"

"For what?"

"For being employed"

"Thanks"

"So how was work today?"

"Great"

"So Lexi" he said and breathed in and out heavily

"Yes"

"I'm sorry for not being able to satisfy you. I understand your pain and I'm ready to give in to you"

I was shocked by his commitment but I wasn't feeling the spark I once felt for him

"Really?"

"Yes. I've thought about it and I realized that you are right. I'm ready to do anything for you. I love you"

I hugged him instead because I couldn't say those words back to him. Not after tasting the startler

"I love you so much Lexi. I'm going to do everything you want if you want me back"

I wanted to tell him the truth but I couldn't. Not when he was ready to do everything I wanted. Not when I could feel how much he loved me

I released him to look at his face, but he took it as a sign for him to kiss me.

He put his lips on mine and pushed his tongue inside my mouth the same way Jason did, but I felt nothing. I wondered if it would have been different if this had happened some weeks back.

My phone rang inside my purse and I thanked God for the interruption. It was a message from Jason

'Are you still at the grocery store?'

'Yeah'

'Okay then, good night'

'Good night'

"Who was that?" Peter asked

"Judith. She needs my help"

"So, are we back together now?"

"Let me think about it"

"There is nothing to think about Lexi. It's not as if you're just meeting me"

"I know but I still have to think about it"

"Okay, let me drop you off"

"No need, I will take a taxi"

I got back home and went straight to my room to escape Judith's advise when my phone started ringing. It was Peter

"Hello"

"I'm just checking to see if you are home"

"Yeah thank you"

"You're welcome. I love you"

"Bye" I replied and hung up

I got to work as early as possible on Thursday morning to cover up for the hours I missed yesterday but met Jason's anger instead.

Everything was as it was on Tuesday morning but this time around, I guessed the anger was directed to me personally.

"One of the files you put on my table yesterday is missing"

"Sir?"

"You heard me clearly"

"But I'm sure I put everything on your table sir"

"So I'm making it up, right? I'm making it up"

"No you're not, I don't mean it that way"

"So maybe you should explain better"

"I mean, I thought I put everything on your table, maybe I didn't. Maybe I mistakenly drop it on my table"

"So, what you're trying to say is that you are not capable of doing your job, right?"

"I'm sorry sir"
