The next morning, I was woken up by the sound of furniture being moved.

Jeremy walked in, holding one of Branka's hands while dragging a suitcase with the other.

He pointed at me and said,

"Branka will be staying in the master bedroom. You can move to another room."

Branka looked at me from behind him, her smile sweet but her eyes full of smugness.

I nodded and stepped aside to let them have the room.

Jeremy looked surprised and grabbed my arm.

"You’re not angry?" he asked.

I shook my head.

"There’s nothing to be angry about."

Jeremy’s gaze fell to my neck.

"Where’s the necklace? You never took it off before."

I replied blandly,

"It doesn’t feel appropriate anymore."

Jeremy stared at me for a long time, as if trying to find some trace of anger or sadness in my expression.

Unfortunately for him, he found none.
