Of the C.M. Thompson stories I have ever read, perhaps the most impressive one is The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn). The story is too good, leaving me with many doubts. Currently, the manga has been translated to Chapter 140. Let's read the author's The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn) C.M. Thompson story right here.
They both chuckled as they handed Brody his present.
"Happy Birthday, Brody," they chimed in unison.
"Happy Birthday!" added Sena with a playful grin.
Brody stood up immediately, showing a great deal of respect to Dahlia. "Thank you both."
Dahlia glanced around the room, noticing Charles was nowhere to be found. She had assumed he was inside playing poker or something, but he was absent.
After the trauma Sena had been through, she had become remarkably open-hearted and kind towards Dahlia. She even volunteered to ask about Charles on Dahlia’s behalf. "Hey, Brody, where's Charles?"
Brody recalled seeing Charles follow Evelyn outside. He couldn't quite wrap his head around it. Charles used to avoid hearing her name. But today, his attitude was strangely different. Not only did he mention Evelyn, but he also pulled her into the booth across the hall. His demeanor wasn't anything like the intense disgust everyone talked about. If anything, he seemed to care quite a bit.
Glancing at Dahlia, Brody decided to cover for Charles. "Charles stepped out to take a call," he said smoothly, changing the subject. "Come on, have a drink with me!"
"Sure thing," Dahlia replied, not giving it much thought. She and Sena made their way over to the couch and took a seat.
Brody's new girlfriend, perceptive and quick on her feet, poured them both a glass of wine. Dahlia accepted her drink and asked, "And who might this be?"
Without thinking, Sena sprang up, wine glass in hand, and dashed out, flinging the red wine at Evelyn. "Evelyn, you bitch!"
Evelyn was caught off guard as she passed Booth 888. She quickly sidestepped. The wine missed her face, splattering against the wall, though some still splashed onto her clothes and hair. Her already cold expression hardened even more.
Evelyn hadn't even confronted Sena about the drugging incident with Michael, yet here she was, picking a fight.
Evelyn spun around, grabbed Sena by the hair, and dragged her into Booth 888, tossing her onto the floor. Sena fell awkwardly, and her face contorted in anger and pain.
"Evelyn, you bitch! I won't let you get away with this!" Sena shouted.
