Wesley's words hit Charles like a lightning strike, leaving him stunned and speechless. He snapped his head up, his eyes cold and piercing. "What did you just say?" he demanded.

The shock slackened his grip on Dahlia, and she stumbled awkwardly to the ground. “Ouch!” she exclaimed, trying to pull Charles's attention back to her. But he was too lost in his thoughts to notice.

Seeing this, Dahlia pushed her pain aside. She sat there, shoulders shaking, her face hidden so no one could tell if she was scared of Wesley's revelation or something else entirely. After a moment, she looked up, eyes red and brimming with tears. "Wesley, you're lying! Why would you slander me like this?" she cried out, her voice choked with emotion.

Her gaze locked onto Wesley's, sending a silent message that only he could understand. Dahlia was betting on Wesley's love for her. Surely, he wouldn’t hurt her, not when he loved her so much.
