Of the C.M. Thompson stories I have ever read, perhaps the most impressive one is The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn). The story is too good, leaving me with many doubts. Currently, the manga has been translated to Chapter 55. Let's read the author's The Day Our Promise Breaks (Charles and Evelyn) C.M. Thompson story right here.
During this period, Evelyn had been giving him the cold shoulder, causing tension between them.
Suddenly, her warmth returned, and she responded enthusiastically, making him powerless to stop. He deepened their kiss even further.
The temperature in the kitchen seemed to rise with their passion.
Dahlia had been searching for Charles and noticed that Carmen had sent the kitchen staff away for some made-up reason. She realized Evelyn was left in the kitchen alone.
Her gaze turned sinister as she approached the kitchen in her high heels.
Sena noticed and quickly said, "Dahlia, there's no way he's in the kitchen."
Dahlia ignored her and continued towards the kitchen.
Charles heard the conversation outside. He regained some clarity but didn't let go of Evelyn. He kissed her even more fiercely. It was as if he had discovered a new flavor he couldn't resist.
The sound of footsteps approached the kitchen. Only then did Charles release Evelyn's lips and take a step back.
Evelyn's legs nearly gave out under her, and she had to steady herself against the kitchen counter, looking at Charles a step away from her.
Unlike her disheveled state, Charles looked impeccable and strikingly handsome, as if the man passionately kissing her was someone else entirely.
Evelyn's eyes, cast down, shimmered with emotion.
As Dahlia's footsteps reached the kitchen door, Charles turned to leave. Evelyn suddenly stepped forward. Her arms reached for his shoulders, and her graceful body pressed against his.
"Evelyn!" Charles' voice was husky, a low warning. He tried to pull her arms away, but Evelyn suddenly reached for his neck, tiptoed, and her soft lips found his neck.
A shiver ran through him from the touch, gathering at his core.
Charles' movements hesitated, and his voice sounded rougher as he said, "Evelyn, stop."
Suddenly, Evelyn turned around. She had been seasoning food and had a delicate spoon filled with a heap of salt.
In the moment Sena pointed and berated her, Evelyn fed the spoonful of salt into Sena's mouth, saying, "Your mouth needs some cleaning."
Sena, caught mid-sentence, swallowed intinctively. The overwhelming amount of salt distorted her face, and she rushed out of the kitchen towards the restroom.
Charles didn't bother to explain to Dahlia. He walked out of the kitchen with composure.
Dahlia glared fiercely at Evelyn before following him. The kitchen door closed once again.
Evelyn raised her hand, wiping her lips hard, erasing the trace of Charles left on her lips.
...
Evelyn prepared a "delicious and aromatic" lunch spread. She had already filled herself in the kitchen, and didn't join the table after finishing the meal.
