Splashes erupted as Sandy fell into the icy lake.

“Sandy…”

The moment Sandy hit the water, Dahlia’s voice, filled with panic and distress, echoed from not far away. Her cries tore through the air, “Somebody help! Sandy’s fallen into the lake!”

Her voice was loud, immediately drawing the attention of the servants outside.

Upon hearing that Sandy had fallen into the lake, some rushed to rescue her, while others quickly went to inform Charles.

Sandy had only been at the Jenkins Estate for half a day, and all the servants already knew how much Charles cared for this daughter.

It was not like the love he had for his and Evelyn’s daughter.

Every time Charlie and Evelyn visited the Jenkins family estate, they never paid them any mind. Although Sandy hadn’t yet changed her surname or been officially recorded in the Jenkins family, they already treated her as the young lady.

Carmen and Sena also heard the commotion and walked over from the opposite side of the lake. They saw Sandy in the water.

“What are you waiting for? Hurry and get her out,” Carmen immediately ordered the servants to rescue her.

Then, her gaze shifted to Evelyn, commanding, “Hold her.”

Without even asking, Carmen had already pegged Evelyn as the culprit behind Sandy’s fall. The servants immediately approached and detained Evelyn.

By the time Charles arrived, Sandy had just been pulled out of the lake. In the winter, the lake water was bone-chillingly cold. Even though she was quickly rescued, Sandy’s face was still blue with cold. She was shivering uncontrollably.

Sandy saw Charles, and her eyes immediately reddened. Tears fell in big drops, and her teeth were chattering as she pitifully cried, “Daddy…”

Charles hurried over, his gaze sweeping around. He asked coldly, “What happened?”

As he spoke, he quickly removed Sandy’s wet garments, wrapped her in his own coat, and lifted her into his arms.

Sandy curled up in Charles’ embrace. She sneakily glanced at Evelyn, shaking even more violently, as if terrified, and said with a trembling voice, “Ms. Evelyn…”

She couldn’t finish her sentence before her tears followed. She looked utterly pitiable.

Charles’ gaze turned icy cold. He passed by Evelyn, and his frosty gaze landed on her. His brows furrowed. His eyes were sharp and piercing.

Evelyn met Charles’ gaze.

From that look, Evelyn knew that he believed she was the one who pushed Sandy.

It’s just like the first time Sandy and Charlie met.

Sandy had fallen into the pool. With just a veiled hint at Charlie, Charles didn’t even ask before deciding it was Charlie who had done it.
