Hearing Charles mention Charlie, Evelyn's body instantly stiffened.

"Evelyn, stop acting crazy." Charles noted Evelyn's silence and warned her with a heavy voice.

Evelyn knew that Charles was warning her not to say Charlie was dead every time he mentioned her.

The color in Evelyn's eyes darkened slightly. She had never intended to bring it up in front of Charles. She was just worried about Rosa.

Rosa adored Charlie so much before she fell into a coma, and now that she had finally woken up, could she take it knowing that Charlie was dead?

Evelyn didn't dare take that risk.

Her lips moved, about to say something, but at that moment, an elderly voice came from the staircase—

"What are you talking about? Who are you picking up to have dinner with me?"

It was Rosa.

Evelyn panicked inside. Forcing herself to be calm, she suppressed the discomfort in her heart and put on a smile as she stepped forward. "Grandma, it's nothing..."

She was about to find an excuse to sidestep the topic, but Charles spoke before she could, "Charlie."

He watched Evelyn, not giving her a chance. She had hidden Charlie for too long.

Evelyn couldn't help but glare fiercely at Charles from a corner where Rosa couldn't see, then turned her gaze to Rosa. "Grandma, Charlie... She's..."

"Who is Charlie?" Rosa asked with a frown, clearly puzzled.

Evelyn's pupils shook, and she swallowed back the words she was about to say.

Rosa... didn’t remember Charlie?

Charles also realized something was off and immediately picked up his phone to message Dr. Nelson and ask him to come over.

"Eve, why aren't you speaking?" Rosa patted Evelyn's hand.

Evelyn held her hand back, struggling to suppress the turmoil in her heart.

Worried about Rosa's health, Evelyn talked her into getting a check-up. Rosa didn’t want to Evelyn to worry and agreed.

Half an hour later, Dr. Nelson came out of Rosa's room.

"How is Grandma?"

Charles and Evelyn asked in unison.

"As long as she is not subjected to any shocks and takes good care of herself, there shouldn't be any major issues with her health for now. But..." Dr. Nelson paused.

"But what?" Evelyn asked anxiously.

"Her memory clearly has gaps."

"I just did a test, and her memory seemed to have stopped on one night five years ago... And the memories of the last five years are missing."
