Chapter 10
After hours of travel, my plane
landed in Austin.

I pulled out my phone, receiving a
text: I’m at the airport. Where are you?
“Just arrived.”
As I replied, I saw Jake in the
terminal. He was dressed impeccably,
looking like a gentleman of the old school,
gracious and mannerly. He checked his
phone, then looked up, searching for me.
As he saw me, he waved and walked over.
I was stunned. My naughty
childhood rival had changed a lot.
“Wow, surprised?” he teased.“After
we’re married, you can stare at me all day.”
I rolled my eyes. “Narcissism never leaves you.”
He took my luggage, opened the car door, and placed it in the trunk. He
smiled as he drove.
“Don’t I deserve narcissism?”
fell silent, looking at his sharp
features. He was incredibly handsome,
and I never denied that. He seemed like a
playboy, yet he was extremely innocent.
I heard that he never dated after high
school. I looked at him.“Why did you
agree to marry me? Everyone thought I
what he meant. He was talking about that
I moved to Dallas for Grant? And he said
he was lucky?
My ears flushed. I stammered, “You…
like me?”
The light turned green. He laughed.”
Yes. And I like you even longer than you
like Grant.”
He knew that I went to a distant city
and stayed there for Grant, who didn’t
appreciate me. He had been waiting for
this day for a long time.
