I smile against his chest, he was so overprotective but I liked it. To show that I really wanted this to work, I slowly turned toward the group of people again, still in Matthews arms, and smiled gently to them.

"Hello ... My name is Clarina, and I would really like to get to know all of you, but as Matthew just said this is all new to me, and I need a little time to adjust."

My little speech was received with smiles and nods from most, except for a group of

women who stood by them self and glared at me angrily, I noticed how Matthew again tense his body and heard him growl.

"If you girls can't conduct yourself properly around your future Luna, then disappear, I'm not interested in little spoiled brats to ruin anything between us."

He says angrily, and I know that he has also seen their stares at me, they all fast remove their gaze to avoid Matthews anger. I grab his hand which is around my waist to comfort him, and it works, Matthew immediately relaxes again. I get eye contact with Lucas, who is smiling at me.

Clarina's P.O.V

I get eye contact with Lucas, who is smiling at me with satisfaction, like he is pleased by my actions.

Then I saw Emily who comes running at the hallway before she with a big smile embraces me.

"It is so great that you have accepted my brother, you are the best future Luna possible and will be a huge asset to our pack."

I laughed with her, before I over her shoulder watch how Lucas stiffened and sniffed the air before he looked around bewildered. It dawned on me that he was looking for someone, and when I felt Emily stiffen and move behind me, and away from him, I understood .

"You're his mate?"

I exclaimed quietly. Emily stared wildly at me with pleading eyes and shook her head. I frowned confused, why would she not admit it? I grabbed her hand before I turned to Matthew and gave him a gentle kiss on the mouth.

She smiled a little crooked , and I could just smile back , because she was right , I would have thought she was insane if she had begun to talk about mates back then, but it still confused me that she wasn't with him.

" Why not tell him? Or does he know? I have noticed that he stiffens when you are near ..."

Emily nodded.

"He stiffens because he can smell my scent. You must understand that as werewolves, we all have a mate, a he wolves can recognize their mates scent from the age of 16 while she wolves only recognize their mate at the age 18. I turned eighteen four months ago, and my scent changed , don't ask me why, because I have no clue , but it did , and it was at my 18th birthday party that I realized that it was Lucas who was my mate. But ... I can't be with him. Firstly, he is a teacher at the school, and although it's not a problem in our society, we go to a school where there are humans, and in your community, a teacher-student relationship is strictly prohibited! Secondly, he is the Alpha of our neighbors pack Silver Steel, and the idea that I would have to leave my pack to enter his don't interest me, especially because I would have to be their Luna, and I just can't see myself in that position. Thirdly, he is my brother's best friend, so I have my whole life heard about his conquests, and believe me, it's not so few! Why would I possibly want to be with someone who has been around that much? And as repeatedly acknowledged that the girl does not really interest him, but that it was the desire that drove him! What if I let him in my heart, and it turns out that he just can't be true to me, I can't live with the uncertainty, which is why I have decided that I will live without him. "

I looked gently at her before I pulled her into a hug.

"Oh little friend, you've really thought about this, and I can understand all your views, but he's your mate, you should give him a chance ... Can you just decide that you will live without him? I do not know that much about you wolves yet, but I understood that once they found their mate, it was impossible to be without them?"
