Chapter 4 marks a crucial moment in Deirdre Bertie’s Internet novel, The Further Alpha's Shy Girl. This chapter blends tension, emotion, and plot progression to deliver a memorable reading experience — one that keeps readers eagerly turning the page.

We were on Simon's bed, we had become friends, and even though he seemed like a joker, he proved to be a very serious guy and we had quickly started our project. We were taking a break, and talking about everything and nothing. I laughed aloud at one of his jokes, but stopped abruptly when the door of the room was slammed open and a tall dark-haired man walked in.

I couldn't take my eyes off of him. There was something about this man which was attracting me to him. He was tall, approximately 6'", which was tall compared to my height, which was 5'3". His hair was very dark, almost black, and fell like small natural waves on his head. His eyes were deep chocolate brown, with green sparks, and had a shocking impact on me. We stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like an eternity, but had probably only been about a few seconds. But suddenly, there was a noticeable change in him; his whole body stiffened and he let out a growl. What the hell, did he just growl? His demeanor, which had been warm and friendly a few moments ago, now seemed aggressive and irritated.

He stared at Simon and sharpened,

"MINE".

What's is going on here? I looked at Simon, who seemed nervous and shocked, and saw him raise his hands against the guy. An older man, who had come into the room spoke reassuringly to the dark-haired man. I stared wildly back and forth between Simon and the man, confused as to what was going on. It was obvious that Simon had respect for the dark-haired man and the older man who probably was the head of the family, but it was clear that even though the older man was able to calm down the dark-haired man and make him a little more relaxed, he still was not happy with what was going on. I got up from the bed and gently placed a hand on Simon's arm. Immediately there came another growl from the guy. I stepped back and my hand fell immediately, as it were obviously my movements that had provoked him.

"Listen Simon, perhaps I should go home, so you guys can figure this out."

But as I approached the door, the dark-haired guy stepped in front of me.

"You are not going anywhere, you're MINE, and I will not let you out of my sight."

I stared, frightened of him. What was his problem, he seemed actually threatening in his behavior, and although he had more control over it, it was obvious that the aggression was still just below the surface. While we stared at each other his expression changed, and he looked heartbroken for a moment, before he took a step away from the door. I took the opportunity and rushed out the door.

That was my first encounter with Matthew, who Simon later told me, was his brother.

Matthew has not approached me since that day in his house. But at school he is always around and stares at me constantly, it makes me feel weird. It's not that he makes me uncomfortable, but something happens to me every time I feel his eyes on me. I can't even figure out how to explain what feelings it generates, but I am extremely self-conscious, and for some reason, I am always aware when Matthew approaches a room l am in.

"Of course it is in honor of you! Are there any other beautiful women who have moved to the city this week? No, quite seriously, you are compelled to come, you will get to meet people. There are several of my friends I'd like you to meet, and my sister and mother are very interested in meeting you, my father and brother you already met, so you know some of us."

He laughed; I frankly admitted.

"I don't know Simon, your brother is coming, and it seems to irritate him when I'm around him, he always stares at me strangely."

Simon looked surprised before he shook his head violently.

"No Clarina, you misunderstood my brother. I am sure he stares at you sometimes, frankly every warm-blooded guy would, but I can assure you, he really wants you to come. We will then welcome you to the town in style."
