"Really, I mean even though it is hard for a human to lose his better half, then it often happens that the surviving part, after some years, finds a new person to share the rest of theirs life with."
Emily nods, smiling.
"Yeah, I know, and werewolves can do that too, but only if they have claimed someone who isn't their true mate, then it's possible to survive the death of the other person and find someone else to love, but if it's true mates it have never been seen, that the survivors have found someone else to share the rest of their life with. We believe that when we die, then our wolf reincarnated in another person, and then we have to find our mate once again, this time in a new human body. This is why many werewolves couple has a big age difference, because our previous human have died at different years, and therefore the one who dies first, wait for his or hers mate also die and gets born in a new human body, so it's actually happened that when there has been born a new child, there is a male or female werewolf, there have been 16 or 18 at the time, who knew that the newborn is their mate, just consider how bizarre it must be, to have the attraction towards a baby. But our laws says, that you're not allowed to do anything, until the other person reaches the age for which he or she knows who is their mate, that way no one can take advantage of a minor."
I look at her in wonder, still a little surprised by what she says, but there is one thing I keep wondering.
"But how is it possible not to claim the other person too early? I mean I'm a human being, and the attraction I have to Matthew is almost impossible not to follow. And from what I understand it's ten times worse for a werewolf, so I don't understand how it is possible not to claim them before they reach the right age?"
I said in a questioning tone, and Emily smiled.
"Do you know that one of the couples are my parents, my mother is fourteen years younger than my father, and father was visiting her pack when she was only four years old, and already there he knew that she was his mate. He admitted that he had to get her father to promise him that no other man had to approach her before she turned eighteen, and if he found out otherwise, he would have to come and take her with him. Father left my mother because he knew that if he was near her, he couldn't hold back, even though she was just a little girl, of course not on the sexual level, but to make sure that everyone knew that she was taken by her wearing his mark. And he was gone for fourteen years, but on her eighteenth birthday, he came back to take what was rightfully his. He has told that it was one of the toughest things he had ever done, to let her grow up without him in her life. He knew from the time he was eighteen, whom he would share the rest of his life with, imagine having to wait fourteen years for her to know."
"I'm so glad you're safe. Is everyone all right? "
Matthew put his arms around me and pulls me closer to him; I could feel how he took a deep breath before his whole body relaxed, before he answered.
"Yes I'm fine, there is no one of ours there died, some are wounded but fortunately not any serious. Charles is dead and Steffanie is captured and will be jailed until her punishment ... God, I'm glad you're okay Kitten, I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to you, I couldn't live with it if you were injured because of me."
