Matthew had slightly lost his patience. "I'm looking for Declan regarding an important matter. Don't worry; I'm not here to cause you any trouble. In fact, it's something that could benefit you."

Kingston held his electric scooter and said flatly, "I know. You're here after Plague Compendium. Once you find it, you'll give me tons and tons of money. Is that right?"

His tone showed how weary he was of repeating this line.

Matthew nodded. "It's more or less the same, but slightly different. I'm from a medical sect. I'm here to collect Plague Compendium and The Banner of Miracle Healing."

Kingston remained calm. "Plenty of people showed up, claiming to be from the medical association too. One of them was even a teenager asking for the book! I told them there's no Plague Compendium, so I'm telling you the same thing. Now scram!"

He pushed his electric scooter into the yard.

Matthew was dazed, as he didn't expect people to pose as members of the medical association. Of course, he wasn't surprised that anyone had done that.

Seeing that he had entered the yard, Matthew followed suit.

After setting aside his electric scooter, Kingston turned around and saw Matthew tailing him. Then his gaze landed on the blood-stained dagger.

He uttered faintly, "I saw you stabbing him earlier, and I know you won't hesitate to do the same to me. But I swear I don't have the book. If you don't believe me, just kill me now."

It was evident he didn't seem to care about his life anymore. Looking dazedly at him, Matthew deduced he had experienced something traumatic in life.

He tossed the dagger against the wall and said, "Let me properly introduce myself this time. My name is Matthew Grant, and I was sent by my mentor to collect the book. I must retrieve Plague Compendium and The Banner of Miracle Healing today."

The sound of high heels suddenly echoed. At that moment, a middle-aged woman approached, trying to appear youthful with her heavy makeup.

Once she entered, she shouted at Kingston, "Kingston! My family and I have cut ties with you, yet you still managed to drag us down."

At the sight of the woman, Kingston's expression shifted. "What's wrong, Aunt Carmen?"

His aunt, Carmen Wooler, furiously stated. "You're asking me what's wrong? When your dad was alive, he got my husband and daughter killed.

"I'm begging you. Here. I'll get on my knees. Please stay out of this. If you keep this up, I'll lose my business!" As she spoke, she bent her knees and dropped to the ground.

Kingston stood still, the flicker of warmth in his eyes vanished and was replaced by coldness. He felt nothing at Carmen's plead, uttering, "Aunt Carmen, Uncle Damon and Cecilia didn't die because of Dad."

He continued, "Back then, my home had turned into a hospital, and I was staying at my classmate's house. There were too many germs at home, and we even had a sign on the door labeling it a high-infection zone, forbidding anyone who wasn't sick from entering.

"Uncle Damon sneaked in to steal medicine. That's how he got infected and eventually passed it on to Cecilia. It was entirely his own doing."

With a contorted expression, Carmen screamed like a mad woman, "I asked your father for some prophylactic medication, yet he refused to give me. Otherwise, why else would Damon steal from your house?"

Kingston scoffed, stating, "None of you were infected. Weren't you just trying to sell the medicine for money? It was your own greed that killed Uncle Damon and Cecilia."

Carmen's expression shifted abruptly, and she screamed, "We're not talking about the past. We're talking about the present! I'm your aunt and have even knelt to beg you! Now will you finally give up on reporting Mr. Stone?"
