Noticing Kingston's lecherous gaze, Selene immediately realized that he just wanted an excuse to start talking to her. She shot him a look of disgust.

"You're not welcome here. Scram!"

Kingston was bewildered. Matthew just promised that the staff would treat him with respect and a warm smile. Who would've thought she would tell him to get lost?

He turned to look at Matthew. "You saw that, right? Before I even announced the fact that I'm a plague doctor, she already kicked me out."

Matthew frowned, puzzled by the receptionist turning people away. He stepped forward and sternly said, "Watch it! He's a new coworker."

Selene disdainfully responded, "That guy? My colleague? Seriously? He really needs to check himself in the mirror."

What the hell! Matthew didn't expect to hear that from the receptionist right after stepping into the company. Everything he'd assured Kingston went right out the window because of her.

It was clear as day that Tracy must've been the one who hired Selene, and the latter had to go.

Thinking about this, Matthew pulled out his phone and dialed Tracy's number right away.

Selene scoffed and turned to look at Kingston, only to find him staring straight at her with a creepy look. Furious, she jabbed her finger at Kingston's face.

"You're so broke. Not even a ladder could get you to my level. Do you think you have a shot with me? In your dreams! Now, get out of here. I need to get back to work."

Selene found herself a new boyfriend, and he recently joined the company as one of the rising stars.

The last thing she wanted was for her boyfriend to see her caught up with another guy, so she couldn't wait to shove Kingston out of the door.

Kingston never thought just asking a question would lead to such a humiliation. His face flushed with anger.

"I'm a newly hired employee in this research institute. What reason do you have to make me leave?"

Seeing that Kingston was still pestering her, Selene snapped, "Who do you think you're fooling? Our company isn't even hiring.

With a grim expression, Matthew remarked, "Are you trying to kick out the talent I personally hired?"

Selene hurriedly responded, "I thought he was hitting on me. This is all a big misunderstanding."

Matthew snorted. "Don't get so full of yourself. You act as if every man in the world is into you. You're even neglecting your main job. I don't think you're suited for this position. You should resign."

Selene was unwilling to accept it. Kingston looked so shabby and sleazy, while she was so attractive.

Putting on her brightest smile and puffing her chest out, she coyly placated, "He looks so plain, but you'd fire me over him? Just look at me. I'm gorgeous."

Matthew's expression was filled with contempt. Just another pretty face with no brains. Selene might have been good at flirting, but this was a legitimate company and a high-tech research institute.

He couldn't help but sternly reply, "You think you can measure up to him? Are you even worthy? Get lost!"

Stung by the insult, Selene's face turned livid. She decided to play her last card. "You'll regret letting me go. My boyfriend is a specialist your institute brought in with a ten-million-dollar annual salary from overseas. Fire me, and my boyfriend will leave as well. You'd better think this through."
