Leopold wobbled as his face contorted in pain. It felt like a hand was squeezing his heart. "Did you just say five people from Lyndon's family are dead, Ingrid? How can that happen?"

Ingrid Fuller, Leopold's granddaughter, was telling the truth. Leopold knew it deep down, but he couldn't handle the reality of it.

Ingrid looked horrified. "Lyndon's family were having takeout. After eating, they all collapsed to the ground. When I showed up at their place, I saw them writhing on the ground in excruciating pain. I quickly dialed 911, but they died before the call went through."

Hearing Ingrid's detailed account, Leopold had no choice but to believe it. He sank into his chair with his face pale.

He was in his final years, but seeing the Fuller family thriving made him feel content. He spent thousands of dollars every month on health care, hoping to hang on a little longer.

Leopold went so far as to get his blood replaced with the blood of younger people. He was determined to witness the Fuller family rise to greater heights. He never thought he'd get the news of his three grandsons dying first, followed by the death of two of his sons.

Leopold had suffered the sorrow of seeing his younger family members pass before him. So, he loathed Matthew so deeply that he'd stop at nothing to see him dead, even if it cost him his entire fortune.

He couldn't believe five more Fullers were gone. "Look into this! I want to know where the takeout was from and the person responsible for this. I'll wipe out their whole family!"

A chill ran down Clement's spine. He could tell danger was closing in.

Sitting here, he felt anything but safe, like death was looming over him. The sense of dread was terrifying.

"Don't bother investigating it, Dad. It has to be Matthew. He's already come after us. We're all in danger."

Did Matthew kill Lyndon's family?

Leopold furrowed his brows together. "That can't be true. Our men in Lambda City told us that he's still there. There's no chance it's him."

Right then, Matthew's phone received a message. He pulled it out and checked on it before responding, "It's in progress. They're probably acting on it as we speak."

He was telling the truth. After all, Hoxton reported that he had taken out five targets.

Leopold scrunched up his brows. He didn't want to hear nonsense like "in progress" and "probably".

All he cared about was the outcome, so he snapped, "Just give it to me straight. When is Matthew going to die?"

Matthew sent back a message, "Things are happening according to plan. The setup is in place, and we'll get it done soon."

Furious, Leopold gritted his teeth, ready to lash out. But at this critical moment, he didn't want to risk a fallout with the owner of The Misfortune's Veil.

"'Soon' isn't good enough. I want Matthew dead now, and I can't wait another minute. How about this? I'll pay you an additional five million dollars. No, ten million dollars. Take Matthew out right now."
