Chapter 251 novel The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate

Theresa's mind was off wandering somewhere, and with a bit of uncertainty, she lifted her hand and pointed out the window, "Over there."

After pointing, she second-guessed herself and hesitated before pointing in another direction.

Grace couldn't help but chuckle as she stepped in to set her straight, "It's that way."

Theresa nodded, a bit puzzled, "Oh."

Kent was amused by her clueless cute act and couldn't resist turning to Brandon, "Mr. Crawley, where'd you pick up this cutie pie? She's just too adorable."

He couldn't help himself and reached out, itching to pinch her chubby little cheeks.

Brandon subtly stepped aside to dodge his pawing hand, "Don't you have work to do?"

His protective stance over the little lady made Kent shoot a glance at him and then back at the girl.

She was staring back with her big, round eyes, full of curiosity.

Kent couldn't shake off a sense of deja vu, though he couldn't quite put his finger on it, and he glanced back at Brandon.

Brandon was also just standing there, watching him.

The two of them, one big, one small, had a mysteriously similar tilt to their heads.

Kent felt an impossible guess bubble up inside him, only to quickly dismiss it.

No way Brandon, Mr. Clean-living, could have a love child.

But then the memory of Brandon's flash divorce from Sophia, which she has been refusing to revisit, popped into his head.

Kent couldn't help but speculate that Brandon might have done something to wrong Sophia.

He had a front-row seat to their two-year marriage, and though they weren't clingy, they seemed to have a good relationship.

Moreover, the day before their divorce, Kent remembered that Sophia had come to the company to see Brandon, and they seemed harmonious over lunch with no arguments. Later, it was Brandon who asked him to escort Sophia home.

Everything seemed normal between them.

The image of Sophia on her seventeenth birthday, looking up at him just like that, flashed through his mind.

Brandon's arms tightened around Theresa, his heart pounding in his chest.

Theresa noticed Brandon's change and tentatively called out, "Unkie?"

Brandon didn't react, just kept staring at her.

Grace looked at him with concern, "Mr. Crawley."

Brandon didn't look at her; his eyes remained fixed on Theresa. He finally spoke calmly, "Grace, when was Theresa born?"

Grace was caught off guard by the question, but then she answered, "November the year before last."

Brandon frowned. Even if she was premature, the timing didn't add up.

"What's her mother's name?" he asked.
