Marian hadn't left yet and looked at Don in surprise, "Mr. Crawley still needs to go on a blind date? Is he okay?”

Don just gave a wry smile and shook his head, not responding directly, but instead told her, “Go back to work, will you?”

"What's the rush?" Marian was not too pleased, "Acting like going on a blind date with me was like eating crap, he sure shot me down fast and clean. But he's all over the moon with someone else. I do have some pride, you know.”

"Why the heck would you need to set up a blind date with you? It's clear as day whether you click or not," Don said with a chuckle, "Alright, back to work. Don't end up empty-handed when it's time to present your proposal later."

"Got it."

Marian pouted but didn't press further. She bent down to grab some documents from the table and turned to leave, but after a few steps, her pace slowed to a halt.

She hesitated, turning back to glance at Sophia, her eyes filled with confusion.

Sophia was still sitting at the desk, eyelids slightly lowered, calmly and slowly organizing her papers, seemingly unaffected by the earlier events.

Marian frowned in wonder, about to call Sophia to join her, but Don had already waved her off, signaling her to leave first.

"Oh."

With a reluctant "Oh," Marian turned and walked away.

Ivan had also finished organizing his documents but didn't leave.

He sat quietly for a moment before turning to look at Sophia.

Sophia was still methodically arranging her paperwork, her demure expression masking whatever emotions might lie in her eyes.

Yet, her face remained as serene as ever, seemingly untouched by the recent situation.

Although Ivan had known Sophia for years, he had never quite cracked her code.

She was always calm and composed, rarely showing extremes of joy or sorrow.

Her emotions were not overtly displayed, which was unusual for someone her age.

And that was exactly what he liked about her. That serene composure and a stable emotional state that set her apart.

"Have you left yet?"

He asked softly.

Sophia nodded gently, straightening her papers against the desk with a press of her hand. She stood up, ready to leave.

Don, who had been observing her, spoke up, "Ivan, you go ahead."

Then he looked at Sophia, "Sophia, wait a moment, please."

Don suddenly didn't know whether to feel sorry for Brandon or to admire Sophia.

"Do you know who Brandon's blind date is with this time?" Don asked.

Sophia shook her head, "I don't know, but he and I have talked about this topic. They are well-suited for each other."

Don couldn't help but chuckle, "Indeed they are. They have the same expectations for marriage, so it would be easy for them to get along. They could end up really happy together."

Sophia nodded, "Mm-hmm."

Don's smile slowly faded, and he looked at her seriously, something rare for him.

"Sophia, I've known Brandon for over twenty years. He's always been a man of his word. Once he accepts someone, you and he really will have no chance. Is that really the outcome you want to see?"

Sophia pursed her lips slightly, then looked at him, "Mr. Dempsey, thank you. Brandon and I have discussed this. If I couldn't let go, I wouldn't have chosen to divorce in the first place. If he finds someone who's on the same wavelength as him, I'll be happy for him."

Don looked at her, trying to find a hint of insincerity in her face, but there was none.

Sophia faced his scrutiny with openness and honesty.

"All your discussions before about this issue were hypothetical. But now, such a person has really appeared," Don said, "With Brandon's character, he really would go through with the marriage."

Sophia listened, her expression revealing nothing of the storm that might be brewing inside.
