Sophia couldn't bring herself to look him straight in the eyes, her gaze slightly off-center.

Hannah had already called out to her, "Sophia, come join us for a bite."

Sophia awkwardly shook her head, "No thanks, I've got plans with a friend."

Her phone was practically itching to be used in her hand as she contemplated whether to give Ivan a ring and tell him to ditch.

She wasn't keen on witnessing Brandon's blind date.

There was a difference between knowing about it and seeing it with your own eyes.

Before she could actually make the call, Ivan's call popped up on her screen.

Sophia picked up almost reflexively, "Hello?"

"I'm here," said Ivan.

Instinctively, Sophia turned around and spotted Ivan walking in with the hostess towards them.

Brandon also followed Sophia's gaze and looked towards the entrance. His eyes cooled off a bit when he saw Ivan approaching Sophia.

Don also glanced towards the door and was momentarily at a loss for words when he caught sight of Ivan.

Ivan only noticed Brandon and Don when he was right in front of Sophia.

He was speechless.

Don gave an exasperated smile, not quite sure what to say.

Ivan nodded politely, gave a chilly Brandon a quick glance, then turned back to pull out a chair and sit down opposite Sophia, asking, "Ordered yet?"

Sophia shook her head slightly, "Not yet."

Ivan handed her the menu, "Take a look, what are you in the mood for?"

"Mhm."

Sophia softly replied, taking the menu.

Maybe it was Brandon's presence, but she felt all tied up in knots, her mind a bit sluggish. She was just going with the flow of Ivan's lead, totally forgetting she was the one who owed him a favor.

Brandon had returned to his calm demeanor, so inscrutable that she couldn't guess what was on his mind.

She continued the earlier topic with a smile, "I got transferred overseas."

"Right."

Brandon responded nonchalantly, not really all that interested.

With so many people in the company, unless they were high-level executives he personally appointed, he didn't really keep track of staff movements.

Even though Hannah expected this, she couldn't help feeling a tad disappointed to find out he genuinely had no clue.

"I didn't want to leave West district," Hannah said with a laugh, hinting, "I thought since we were high school buddies, I could ask for a favor, but you were too busy to meet, and my request got bounced back."

Brandon paused mid-sip, vaguely recalling something of the sort.

"Sorry, I never interfere with subordinates' assignments," Brandon said, slowly setting down his teacup.

Still smiling, Hannah prodded, "Then what about Susan's project? How come you made an exception there?"
