Aaron looked like he was in a real pickle.

These were things they could hash out among family, but spilling the beans to Brandon was a no-go.

He feared that if he let the cat out of the bag, and Brandon took it to heart, with Sophia's fiery nature, their relationship might hit the skids.

With the lovebirds currently in a good place, Aaron didn't want to rock the boat.

He wanted to keep being Brandon's brother-in-law.

"Is there a problem?"

Brandon asked coolly, giving him the eye.

"Not exactly."

Aaron still looked troubled, "It's just I got to thinking about how Sophia doesn't cherish her marriage with you, isn't grateful, and I just lost my cool, that's all."

Aaron's voice trailed off.

"Alright, if you're not willing to spill, then off you go to the police station to stew over your actions," Sophia said, then turned on her heel to leave.

Aaron reached out instinctively to stop Sophia.

"Hold up, can't I just apologize and make it right?"

Aaron said as he slapped himself hard on both cheeks, cursing himself while he did it, "It's my own damn fault for being impulsive. This is the worst time for me to be cooling my heels in a cell. The Frost Group's resort bidding is happening in a couple of days, and I've got to be there in person."

"Aren't you out of the running for the bid?" Sophia looked back at him, "What's it got to do with you?"

"I'm in the game now," Aaron explained hastily, "Ms. Frost invited me for a meal today. She sees potential in me and my company, so she's considering adding us to the bidding list. She's the lead designer of the project and the apple of the Frost family's eye. With her backing, there's no way I can lose."

"Ms. Frost?" Sophia frowned at him, "How did you even meet her? And why would she be interested in your so-called company?"

Brandon gave him a look, remembering how Patricia had vented her frustration about Sophia, and could roughly guess what his parents had said to him.

He had just disguised himself as a janitor to sneak into his dad's hospital room, and right after he left, his dad had been rushed to the ICU. Aaron, too, had come straight to Sophia to let off steam, clearly both sides had riled each other up, and the words exchanged were probably not the nicest.

Brandon also didn't want Sophia to hear those derogatory remarks about her. He glanced at his watch, "The cops should be here soon. Let's head back to the 17th floor."

Sophia gave him a look.

"Wait, why are we still talking about getting the cops involved?" Aaron was clearly panicked, his eyes pleading with Sophia, "Sophia, you can hit me, yell at me, whatever you want, just don't send me to jail, please. I can't have a criminal record. It’ll mess up Betty's background check for her government job."

"Didn't you think about the consequences before you hit someone?"

After saying this, Sophia pulled her hand away and walked off.

Aaron hurried after her.
