Don had just stepped out of the office and, looking up, spotted Martin gazing at Sophia's retreating figure. Puzzled, he greeted him, "Martin, what brings you here?"
Martin turned around at the sound and saw Don approaching.
"Just here to discuss the kickoff of the project," Martin said.
"How's the talk going?" Don asked.
"Pretty much settled. It's just that..."
Martin glanced in the direction Sophia had gone, then back at Don.
Don got the hint and quickly threw his hands up in surrender, "Don't look at me. I can't meddle in this."
"Aren't you her boss?" Martin grumbled.
"What's the use of being a boss? Sophia doesn't need another boss breathing down her neck; it's us bosses who need talents like her." Don said, glancing at him, "Like you, out of all the designers you could have picked, you had to go for her. Doesn't that say something?"
Martin just gave him a look and said nothing.
Don slung an arm over his shoulder, "Come on, let's grab some grub."
Martin was inclined to say no, but considering the tense vibe at home lately thanks to Marian, he swallowed the refusal.
"Let's go."
With that, he shook off Don's hand and headed for the elevator first. Don hurried to keep up.
The elevator quickly descended to the ground floor. To Don's surprise, Sophia was still in the lobby, seemingly waiting for someone.
"Sophia?" Don called out.
Sophia turned at the sound and saw it was Don, politely greeting him, "Mr. Dempsey."
"Waiting for someone? Not off yet?" Don asked with a smile.
Sophia nodded gently, "Yeah."
She was indeed waiting for someone - Brandon and Theresa.
She had promised Theresa a shopping spree tonight and Brandon had gone ahead to pick her up.
The first was a close call with Brandon in Skyrim City, where she had dined at a restaurant with Sophia and Ivan.
The second was in the neighboring Zion City with Susan and Sophia, where they had chosen a restaurant catering to her taste. Theresa's culinary world was pretty much limited to the meals she ate at those restaurants.
So, without hesitation, she requested her favorites: red shrimp rolls and braised pork ribs, the ones she felt familiar with.
Brandon, the doting father, agreed to her wishes and took her to a restaurant in the nearby mall with Sophia.
The place was getting crowded by this time, but fortunately, there were private rooms available, offering a quiet and more intimate dining environment.
"We'll have a private room," Brandon told the waiter.
"Right this way, please."
The waiter grabbed the menus and led Brandon, Sophia, and Theresa up to the private dining area on the second floor.
The bustling noise of the first floor was left behind as they ascended the stairs to the quiet and serene second floor, a stark contrast to the clamor below.
The waiter ushered them toward a private room at the end of the corridor. Before they even reached the room, Don's unmistakable booming voice unexpectedly carried over from the next room, "Martin, I gotta ask you, is Marian actually Yolanda?"
