Brandon and Kent made their way to the reception room.
Harvey and Clark were already waiting there. Spotting the duo coming in, they stood up and reached out to shake hands with Brandon and Kent.
"Mr. Crawley, sorry for the intrusion."
"Mr. Ferber, that’s not necessary," Brandon also extended his hand for a polite handshake before inviting them to take a seat at the table.
"What brings you to Starlight Group today, Mr. Ferber?" As Harvey took a seat, Brandon did the same, turning to him with a courteous smile.
"Just happened to be passing by and thought I'd drop in for a visit," Harvey replied with a pleasant smile, gently placing his phone on the table as he sat down.
Brandon followed suit, placing his phone on the table as well. Kent and Clark sat down beside them, each setting down their own phones.
Brandon turned his attention to Harvey, still sporting a cool but polite smile, "Mr. Ferber, your presence is a blessing for Starlight Group."
Harvey chuckled, "You flatter me, Mr. Crawley."
In the midst of conversation, his gaze shifted to Brandon, "I've heard Mr. Crawley has donated a science museum."
Brandon, who was about to take a sip of tea, paused at the words and looked at Harvey, "And where did you hear that, Mr. Ferber?"
Harvey just smiled without a direct response, his eyes, however, keenly fixed on Brandon, "It's not important. The museum's designer is named Arlene, right?"
Brandon's fingers, perched on the teacup lid, hesitated slightly before looking at Harvey, also choosing not to answer directly.
Harvey suddenly smiled, but it quickly faded as he looked intently at Brandon, "Mr. Crawley, can I ask for a favor? I'd like to meet this designer named Arlene."
Brandon still held his tea, gazing at him without giving any reaction. The look in Harvey's eyes lost its mirth, seriously eager to meet the designer known as "Arlene", and it seemed non-negotiable.
It was clear he was absolutely certain the museum's designer was the person he was looking for.
Was it really just a case of similar design styles?
A flicker of concern crossed Brandon's mind, but he kept his exterior calm and composed. Kent also glanced at Harvey with a hint of surprise.
At that moment, Kent's phone pinged with a WhatsApp notification, and almost simultaneously, Brandon's phone chimed with the same sound.
"Send Arlene's photo to human resources; ask them to keep an eye out," after seeing off Harvey and Clark, Brandon instructed Kent in a calm tone.
"Will do," Kent responded lightly.
With no further comment, Brandon turned and walked back to his office, his grip on the phone still tight.
Once back in the office, he opened WhatsApp and found the new designer's contact. Seeing the message "Sorry, I didn't realize you were the project lead. My bad for not accepting your request sooner" again, Brandon couldn't help but frown.
Kent, who had followed Brandon into the office, noticed him staring at the designer's WhatsApp and recalled what President Poe had explained earlier. He informed Brandon, "Oh, Mr. Crawley, President Poe said he forgot to mention yesterday that you were the project lead. The designer didn't know the person adding her was the project lead; she thought it might be some kind of middleman, so she didn't accept, leading to the misunderstanding."
A slight crease formed on Brandon's forehead as he glanced at Kent, who felt perplexed under that gaze, and just as he was about to speak up, Brandon calmly said, "You can go now."
"Alright," Kent replied softly, exiting the room.
Brandon's attention snapped back to his phone screen, and he stared at that message for what felt like an eternity, almost putting the phone down a couple of times only to pick it right back up. Arlene's resume, Harvey's eagerness to meet her earlier, and Kent's explanation about how designers wouldn't know he was the head honcho were all doing a crazy dance in his head, slowly getting overshadowed by the design sketches he had seen last night.
His gaze drifted from the WhatsApp profile pic to the text and then slowly to the icon of starting a video call. His lips pressed slightly, and without missing a beat, Brandon tapped that icon, went for the "Video Call" option like a boss, and shot it off.
