The man went on, “I get it, as a married man, it’s not right to go with another woman to adopt a kid. I never knew how to tell you. 

But I couldn’t turn Patricia down. She was seriously hurt trying to save me once and can’t have children because of it. 

So, I’ve always felt that I owed her a lot and have been more forgiving of some of her actions.” 

Ellinor relaxed a bit. She looked down and listened to him. 

“You asked me before what Patricia lost because of me. I didn’t tell you because I promised the Howard family I wouldn’t reveal the fact about Patricia’s infertility. I couldn’t 

tell anyone. 

But I was wrong. You’re not just anyone, I should’ve been honest with you and told you this earlier.” 

Ellinor felt a pang of sadness. She was not used to this aloof and domineering man talking so humbly in front of her. 

Theo hugged her tightly again, seemingly still uneasy, afraid she was still angry and would leave him again. 

“Patricia always said she loved kids and wanted her own, but she can’t conceive. She asked me to accompany her to an adoption agency abroad to adopt a child. She said there was no need to be married, couples could adopt. 

She said if I did her this favor, I’d be square with her for saving my life back then, and she wouldn’t bother us anymore. 

Before you came into my life, I could tolerate Patricia. But after you came, it wouldn’t be fair to you if I’m too involved with another woman. So, I wanted to sort things out between Patricia and me as soon as possible, so I agreed” 

Upon hearing this, Ellinor frowned and looked at him, “But you still often took care of the kid with Patricia, didn’t you?” 

Theo sighed, “I haven’t raised a child either, I didn’t think there would be so many problems with raising a child, I looked at it too simply. When we came back, Patricia said she didn’t dare to tell her family about the adoption yet. She was afraid they wouldn’t understand and would send the child away, so she asked me to find a place for her and 

the child. 

There were many issues with raising the child. Whenever she didn’t know what to do, she’d call me and I’d help as much as I could. 

I arranged a professional nanny for them, but she would still call me from time to time, asking for help for all sorts of reasons. 

After all, I helped her adopt the child, so I feel responsible. I would go and help as much as I could. 

But I was just there to help. As soon as the problem was solved, I’d leave. There’s nothing else between her and me.” 

Ellinor sneered. This was definitely Patricia’s style.
