I don't know why but I don't believe the fact that the child she's carrying is Alpha Reagan's.

“Alina, crying right now is not going to stop me from saying the things I want to say to you.” I toss her another brief look. Her face is drenched with tears but I see right through her. She can't fool me. “You still have a chance. Call Alpha Reagan, tell him it was a mistake.”

“So you want me to raise the child all alone just to protect his relationship with Ashanti?”

“In case you don't know, the day this child is born, a paternity test will be carried out to prove if Alpha Reagan is truly the father and if it turns out he isn't, the tears you're shedding right now is nothing compared to what you'll shed on that day. You'll cry blood. So if I were you, I'd back out of this very dangerous plan right now.”

“So, this is to say that you don't believe me when I say Alpha Reagan is the father of this child I'm carrying.” She says with a shaky voice, sniffling tears.

I shake my head.

“I don't.”

It breaks my heart to have these very intense conversations with her over and over again and maybe… just maybe if I had not sworn an oath to serve the crown with all truth and honesty, I would have sided with her.

Sometimes I try to put myself in her shoes, but it's too hot in there. I wonder how she survives the heat. She's doing too much for a man who has never looked at with any sort of emotion. She's biting more than she can chew. She's ruining her life. I've tried to tell her this time and again, but the last thing she ever does is listen to advice from anybody.

“When I finally become Luna, the first thing I'll do is make sure Alpha Reagan strips you of your title as Delta of this pack. I swear that on my life.” Her words are heavy with conviction. I park in the driveway in our father's compound and turn to look at her. The look she has on tells me she's very very serious.

“Alina, if you channel this determination of yours into doing something positive, you will achieve great things in life. Too bad you've already chosen the dark side of life.”

I unbuckle my seatbelt and she starts crying again.

She cries all the way to the house and even when we get in. We meet our mother in the living room and she gets alarmed after seeing Alina who walks straight into her arms.

“Mummy.” Alina calls crying even harder. Our mother shoots me a confused look over her shoulders

“What happened? Why's she crying?” Alina pulls out of her arms and points at me with her index finger.

“It's his fault!” She says stubbornly and I'm not even surprised. This entire scenario feels like a déjà vu to me.
