REAGAN'S POV.

Eerie, pin-dripping silence spreads through the entire living room for ten solid seconds. My eyes are trained on Ashanti's face and I watch in horror as her expression changes from amused to confused to furious. She takes one step forward and the sound of her feet landing against the marble-tile stairs breaks the silence in the living room. Without saying a word, she calmly descends the staircase and comes to meet Alina and I in the living room.

My gaze has still not left her face.

“What did you just say?” She asks in a calm but deadly tone. My heart almost crashes out of my chest. I shoot Alina a terrified glance, praying in my heart that she says she was just kidding and laughs.

There has to be another way to handle this issue.

Ashanti hearing about this from another person and that person being Alina herself is not a good thing.

“I said…” Says Alina as she walks closer to Ashanti without any fear in the world. “I'm pregnant with Alpha Reagan's child.” A wicked smile perches on the side of her lips after saying that statement. Ashanti looks at me and the sky drops on my head. Her stare feels like I'm carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders and it's weighing me down into the ground.

“Is this true?” Her voice is small, so small, but powerful enough to make the dynamites in my chest explode. I suck in a deep breath. I sigh. I look from Alina to her.

“Go on. Tell her. Don't be shy. She can't do anything to you.” Alina urges and I fight the urge to shut her mouth with a spank. She still has that smug smile of hers that's gnawing at my nerves.

“Ashanti… baby…” I call in a whisper but Ashanti is not having any of it. Her eyes turn darker.

“Tell me it's not true.” Her voice is a nervous, shaky whisper. “Tell me she's lying. TELL ME SHE'S NOT PREGNANT WITH YOUR CHILD!” She screams at the top of her voice and the tears in her eyes break loose. They fall down her eyes like a waterfall.

“Baby… I can explain.”

“Oh, it's not a lie…” Alina starts talking but Ashanti shuts her up with another scream.

“SHUT UP!”

“Oh…” Alina panics and backs away from her, but once she's at a safe distance, she starts laughing. “This is so interesting to watch.” She says, shaking her head. I ignore her and turn back to Ashanti who looks like she's about to explode. Her jaws are clenched and so are her fists by her side, her face has turned oxblood and her eyes are red with rage. She looks like she's going to kill something.

I've never seen her this way before.

“Ashanti.” I call and rush over to meet her. “It was a mistake. I…” I take her hand my hold but she steps back and furious yanks the hand out of my grip. My heart shatters when she shakes her head at me. I can see the pain and disappointment in her eyes. My heart shatters into a thousand pieces.

I've failed her.

“I don't believe you!” She turns around and sprints up the staircase. I want to follow her but then I remember I still have this thing called Alina in my living room. If she stays another minute under my roof, I'll commit murder.
